#play clothes

Picked up some cotton at Joann's liquidation sale. Apparently, something made me forget the first rule of knitting. Did I check lots? No. Also, the 2nd rule. Did I look at my project as I knit? No.

Really bad. But I'm gonna finish this and wear it for yard work or traveling and not feel bad about how rough I am on clothes. I need play clothes.

Lesson learned, though. Check dye lots.

2022 Fashion Show Part 5: Maxine

Maxine had been to the hospital in the past, about a year ago.... to get a spa and some new bunny ears and new pink eyes and whiskers and a cotton tail. But then there was an incident with an animal and she needed her whiskers replaced, and while she was here, her person wondered if she could get some wardrobe pieces. We settled on a pair of pants and shirt, a onesie, and then a dress for fancier occasions. Here's Maxine before her first visit:

Here she is after that initial surgery:

And here she is a year later, post whisker surgery, ready to be sized for her new clothes... she's holding one of the fabrics we considered for her pants:

And last but not least, here she is showing off her new wardrobe. It's like a minicollection at fashion week. :-) Maxine was actually the inspiration for this fashion show series, because I really liked how her clothes turned out!

First her play clothes... if you look closely you can see the bow on the front top of her shirt. Her pants have a drawstring closure. Her shirt is flannel and her pants are fleece:

Then her onesie for naps and more restful times, this time with hearts (the closure is velcro, just like on Catastrophe's shirt and the fabric is the fleece from the earlier photo):

And finally her dress for fancier occasions. It's calico and velour with drawstrings at her wrists, a velcro closure at the back, and a satin ribbon waistband tie:

I think she looked proud and happy in that one. :-)

And Maxine's person's response (one of you dear people), was "Love it!"

So she flew home.

I was presented with another stained shirt and asked for "the kitty cat"(nyano-sensei) and flowers by the small one who owns it. The stain ended up mostly covered by the enormous cat. It is a lot of fun throwing art on these play clothes (stained or holey clothes now designated for playing, think the sound of music)

Said child picked the colors I was to use for the flowers. These are turning out to be pretty fun, I hope I get to do more. Natsume Yuujinchou. made with puff paint.

Sun/Moon themed play clothes (stained or holey clothes relegated for casual/art/outside use. Think Sound of Music) decorated because the small one who they belong to asked for "something fun" and was fine with the idea. decorated with puff fabric paint.

edit: added some smaller/for stars to moons side, clusters of yellow to sun's half and color to both sides of their faces.
