Day 7. A pet that is loved.
We are in Erik's kitchen. Seth and Erik are sitting at the kitchen table, talking, just talking.
Seth. So, I'm sitting there in the theater trying to watch the movie, and this really loud girl sits right next to me!
Seth. yes, anyway, she sits next to me and say's, she say's "I've watched this movie three times already, and I still can't believe he dies" I'm sitting there, staring at her like, are you mad? You just ruined it for everyone in here.
Erik. And what did she say?
Seth. Well, I didn't exactly say that. You see, her boyfriend was sitting next to her, and well, let's just say he I couldn't see the color of his skin underneath the ink and piercings.
Erik. (laughing) You wuss!
Seth. Oh, so you would have told of the gang member's girlfriend?!
Seth. Right, coming from the one who ran from Cathy Perkins who was in grade two while you were in grade 7.
Erik. Well, she was quite scary! You remember that time we found my cat, and we found him just in time because she was about to kill him. ( A cat Jumps up and purrs) Yes, you almost died and I-we saved you.
Seth. Well, she was older at that time. She was more dangerous at the age of 23. I'm talking about when she was 7.
Erik. She was scary then to. I love this cat. I don't know what I would have done if she died.
Seth. I'm sure you would have bought another one, and got over it.
Erik. No, this cat has been with me for a while now, and we both have been through so much. If it wasn't for her, I'd probably would have never gotten the lead in Wicked.
Erik. She had gotten out of the house one day and ran down toward the main street. I ran after her, but she was fast for a little thing. Anyway, I had chased her for about 4 blocks, when finally she stopped in front of a Theatre to rest, I grabbed her and looked at the display window. They were looking for a new lead, I walked in and auditioned. I would have never known if it were not for her. I love you...yes I do. okay get down. (He puts the cat on the floor.)
Seth. Well, I never knew that.
Erik. No one does, how weird would that be, "Hey everyone, my cat knew about an audition and helped me get the lead to wicked." They'd think I'm weird.
Seth. Well, you told me and I don't think you're weird.
Erik. So, I've been meaning to ask you; Why exactly did your family want me at the hotel?
Seth. Oh, they just,uh, they wanted to have you try and convince me not to go to the war.
Erik. Well, if they had asked me, they would have known that I already tried.
Erik. That wasn't what they wanted though, was it?
Erik. Your family didn't ask me to come to try and convince you, did they? They wanted to let me know something.
Seth. What-what makes you (chuckles) say that?
Erik. Well, (Erik pulls out a cell phone.) for one; The message says they need to tell me something, 2; you rushed out of there really quick, and you looked embarrassed, and 3; The only other time I've seen you that red, was when Cathy Perkins had said you liked Mikey Reigns.
Erik's cat jumps on the table again and starts to purr. Erik pets her.
Erik. So, my question is -
Seth. I've got to get going. My pager is beeping like crazy. Sorry mate, bye.
Seth is gone. The door opens and shuts. Erik just continues to pet his cat.
Erik. -Do you like me? *sigh* You like me right? (chuckles) Of course you do, I'm our owner. Do you think he likes me? I like him. I wonder if he knows that. I should tell him? What do you think? Don't just lick my face, I need your opinion. I should? Yeah, you're right, what if he doesn't feel the same way? You think he doesn't? I don't know, I think he does. I love you Luna. ( he kisses the cat and puts her down) You really know how to help a man when he's in trouble.
The cat just purrs and caress his leg as he gets up. He walks to the counter, grabs his keys and exits. The cat jumps back on the table.
