You picked up your phone to see that it’s your boyfriend, Shawn, calling. Your heart beat suddenly doubled upon reading the caller ID.
It’s been more than a day after your fight with him about something small and this was the first time he called. It was hard that Shawn was on tour. The timezones drove you crazy--every so days, he was in a different timezone.
“Hello?” You greeted, dying to hear his voice. He would always FaceTIme or call you every day when he can. But he didn’t yesterday.
“I promise that one day I’ll be around. I’ll keep you safe, I’ll keep you sound.”
Your heart skipped a beat when he started singing through the phone. You instantly recognize it as one of the old songs on his second album that you loved.
“Shawn...”
“Right now it’s pretty crazy. And I don’t know how to stop or slow it down.” He stopped singing when I heard the same knock that I heard from your house.
“No way.” Your heart started beating faster than it did, your hand shaking. You knew that he was supposed to be somewhere far the day after today, it was impossible that he was right here, right now.
“Y/n, please open the door.” He said through the phone as you walked to the front door of your flat. You took a deep breath of air before opening the door.
And there he was, standing outside your front door, his curly hair all messed up and cheeks red from the cold--his phone still pressed to his ear. He gave you a smile when he ended the call, not even looking at the screen.
You didn’t waste time just standing there, once he was inside with the door shut, you gave him a hug. He hugged you back even tighter, you felt his chest vibrate while he chuckled.
“I missed you.” You whispered. You have waited months to be back in front of him, be back in his arms, his actual presence near you.
“I missed you too.” He kissed the top of your head, you felt butterflies just like the first time he did that.
“I’m sorry, I didn-”
“Hey, I know there are things we need to talk about.” You were gonna start apologizing, but he cut you off by singing more of the song. “And I can’t stay, just let me hold you for a little longer now. Take a piece of my heart, and make it all your own. So when we are apart, you’ll never be alone. You’ll never be alone. When you miss me, close your eyes. I may be far but never gone.”
You closed your eyes and buried your face into his chest even more. You were stopping yourself from crying. You missed him so much, but by his song. he’s not allowed to stay long.
“When you fall asleep tonight just remember that we lay under the same stars.” He pulled back from your tight embrace. He raised your chin so that you’ll be looking into his eyes. You definitely noticed the tiredness in his brown eyes, poor baby.
“Aren’t you supposed to be somewhere in Washington the day after tomorrow?”
“Yes but when I heard from Matt that you were crying last night, I just had to get here as soon as I can.” You chuckled at mentioning yours and his best friend’s name. Of course, Matt told him.
You got on your tippy toes to kiss him, he was so much taller than you that he had to lean down for you to kiss him, even on your tippy toes. Your stomach dropped when felt him smile as you kiss, you definitely missed the feeling of his lips against yours.
You were disappointed when he pulled away from you. “I love you so much, y/n and I’m sorry for being angry.”
“I love you too, but you can’t stay, just let me kiss you for a little longer now.” I smiled.
He gave me a smile back and pressed his lips against yours once again.
