Today we are in Ruth! “But Ruth replies, “Don’t ask me to leave you and turn back. Wherever, you go, I go; wherever you live I will live. Your people will be my people, and your God will be my God.” (Ruth 1:16) Wow! This verse says to me that many of us are fans of something. Whether it be football, concerts, awards shows, game shows, special events etc. And in being a fan of that something we will travel hundreds, even thousands of miles just be in the presence of whatever we are a fan of. If we can travels hundreds and thousands of miles to be in the company of another human being why can’t we spend time with Father God everyday? Why can’t we give Him even Sundays of our weeks? During the time of Ruth people were so caught up in doing what pleases themselves and not what pleases God! I am not perfect and am guilty of putting my own pleasures ahead of Father God and I am learning more and more everyday how to retrain myself out of that way of thinking. It’s not easy and Father God never promised it would be. But when we finally understand the lesson being taught it’s the most amazing feeling. I am forever grateful for a Father so loving that even when I fail over and over again He is right there to correct me with love.
