My thoughts on TFP and the Sherlock Fandom
I get it. We all wanted Johnlock to be canon. I get it. Seeing that final montage made me so happy, Mary's voiceover was beautiful and so fitting, Sherlock and Euros playing the violin together for their parents and Mycroft... I loved this episode. Not because it was perfect, but because it was human. It focused on the emotions of characters we love, and yes, some of them might not be positive, but you get to see more of them, you get to know them better, and isn't what you watch this show for? You love the plot, the sets, the camerawork, the script, maybe, but what you love the most, are the characters. I am grateful that I got to know Mycroft more. I am grateful that I got to see Sherlock and John grow together. I am grateful to see Molly interact with Sherlock on such a raw emotional basis. I am grateful, for that hint of Mystrade, and I am grateful for this series, this season, this episode. Just because you chose to interpret the show in one way or another, doesn't mean that it has to come true. I can hope, all my life, for Johnlock to be canon, but I am still happy with what comes along my way. You see, you can't just expect your ship to meet and fall in love straight away (but maybe tho i mean). Life will take its course. They might meet others, fall in love somewhere else, but keep in mind the knowledge that they will find each other, because they were meant for each other. I love the show, with all my heart, and to see its wonderful fandom tearing itself apart from the inside with anger and frustration, insulting the creators, disregarding the efforts of the cast and crew just because our ship didn't become canon is just sad. Mark Gatiss probably feels as strongly about Sherlock Holmes as we do, so think about it from his view. And to call him, and openly gay man homophobic is honestly one of the most ignorant things this fandom has done. Please. We bonded over our love for the characters, when did we forget how to appreciate them?
