Schloss Benrath, Benrath, Germany
Benrath Palace
Schloss Benrath is located in Düsseldorf, Germany. The Baroque-style pink mansion was built for the Elector Palatine Charles Theodor and his wife Countess Palatine Elisabeth Auguste of Sulzbach in 1755, with construction completed in 1770. Benrath is now a borough of Düsseldorf. The central building is flanked by two arched wings that surround part of a circular pond. Benrath Palace has served as a museum since 2002, with the Museum of European Garden Art in the east wing, the Museum of Natural History in the west wing, and the main section of the house offering a glimpse of the elector’s lifestyle. The palace is surrounded by 14 acres, including a baroque square hunting park with two diagonal alleys and a circular alley. The landscaped gardens stretch to the banks of the Rhine River, and the property has water features and an orangery. The interior rooms were designed to match the gardens on the grounds. Schloss Benrath is open to the public.

Within the magnificent Ahhichatragarh Fort, also known as Nagaur Fort, lies the 18th century residences of the sixteen ranis of Maharaja Bakhat Singh of Jodhpur. Part of an ambitious 20 year plan to restore the Fort, they’ve been meticulously revived to offer elegant and inviting accommodation. Now one of the most well preserved queenly residences in India, Ranvas is a heritage property in the purest sense, giving its guests the chance to experience a living legacy and a regal residence from which to explore Ahhichatragarh. #Heritage #Historic #Restored #Restoration #Conservation #IndianAesthetic #Splendid #Architecture #Twist #Ancient #Preserved #AhhichatragarhFort #GardenPalace #PalacesOfRajasthan #PleasurePalace #Hotels #Hospitality #Ranvas #Nagaur #NagaurDiaries #NagaurJournal #India #Wanderer #Wanderlust #Travel #Travelogue #TravelDiaries (at Ranvas)
During the 18th century, Bakhat Singh, the ruling maharaja of the time, sought to create a refuge from the external troubles of warfare and politics. The result was a pleasure palace which, still today, awakens the senses through its art and aesthetics - from the sound of fountains and peacocks to the sight of vivid fresco paintings and perfectly constructed geometric gardens. Each of the ten refurbished havelis has been named after one of the ranis and has two or three bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms and a private courtyard. The suites on the first floor open on to a private terrace. #Heritage #Historic #Hotels #Charming #Hospitality #Beauty #IndianAesthetic #Splendid #Interior #Restoration #Conservation #Palaces #PleasurePalace #AhhichatragarhFort #NagaurFort #Fortress #Ranvas #Nagaur #NagaurDiaries #NagaurJournal #Rajasthan #India #IncredibleIndia #Wanderer #Wanderlust #Travel #Travelogue #TravelDiaries (at Ranvas)

The dados in the Central Hall are decorated with mirror work. This has given the building its new name but it may not be original: It appears to have been added later than the paintings. The paintings in the Veranda and in the domed ceiling depict wind figures among clouds, suggesting that it was another pleasure resort, but one of a particular kind. It is a Badal Mahal: a place to contemplate and enjoy the monsoon season. The idea was widespread in Rajput architecture. #Heritage #Historic #Corner #BeautifulCorners #Art #Crafts #Thikri #MirrorCraft #IndianAesthetic #OldAndNew #Views #PleasurePalace #Splendid #SheeshMahal #NagaurFort #Nagaur #Nagaur #NagaurDiaries #NagaurJournal #Rajasthan #India #Wanderer #Wanderlust #Travel #Travelogue #TravelDiaries (at Nagaur Fort) https://www.instagram.com/p/Bko_sTcFsFI/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=8ldipfxjzj7e
