April 28, 2023 - We left Opatija reluctantly at 8 this morning. I would have loved to walk the seawall again but we’re off to the lakes of Plitivice, a national park and Unesco site. Enroute we stopped for free clean washrooms, along with truffle, wine, liqueur, and olive oil tasting. Sorry to say but it’s definite, I really dislike truffle flavour, enjoy malvasja white wine and orangello, and I’m undecided about the Isterian slightly bitter olive oil (they include the pit in the pressing).
It was a long winding bus ride and unfortunately it was our turn for the backseat so together with the overwhelming truffle taste, I was feeling quite bus sick. It was worth it. Breathtaking.
