Determined male protagonist tames a wild, also male, creature

The pair forms a strong bond through trials and tribulations

Bond is tested by the sudden appearance of a female creature of the same species, who is inevitably a Super Special(TM) color that flies in the face of Darwinian evolution 

Protagonist acknowledges creature’s desire to fall in love/breed/whatever

Protagonist releases his beloved ward in a gushy scene that elicits tears from even the most cynical viewer

The creatures elope and fly into the sunset, never to be seen again

This is all complete speculation on HTTYD3′s plot, but based on the poster alone...it’s certainly looking this way.

Side note: Why does Girl!Toothless lack basically all texture? Toothless isn’t smooth like that. And where, in Odin’s name, is the rest of her snout??
