Everything Sucks, a story about a young girl figuring out high school and her sexuality, was canceled by Netflix. Teenage Bounty Hunters, a story about two teenage girls figuring out their place in life and one of them figuring out her sexuality, was canceled by Netflix. Julie and the Phantoms, a story with a strong, fleshed out, poc girl, has yet to get a second season. Outer Banks, a story about white kids (mostly) going on a treasure hunt, got a second season. Emily in Paris, which premiered after Julie and the Phantoms, about a white girl moving to Paris, got a second season. Netflix. What are you doing?
#Netflix#to be clear I like all of these shows#I just think there is a recurring pattern#and it has nothing to do with how the shows were received#or the size of the fan base#I think Netflix is just trying to maintain a demographic#and it thinks giving underrepresented groups one season#is good enough#plot twist...it’s not#julie and the phantoms#teenage bounty hunters#Everything sucks
