I think Arthur Lester is immortal. Beyond having plot armor. And I think it’s somehow connected to John. Maybe he’s influenced Arthur more than he thought he has. Maybe every time Arthur dies they become more connected until they’re so entwined within each other that when they finally have the opportunity to separate they find it impossible. But I digress… let’s start at the beginning
It first happened on the boat at the foggy lake- when Arthur got skewered by the flailing tentacle of a massive kraken. It went right through his stomach, he lost a lot of blood- even blacked out for a second- and when he woke up to John’s frantic voice he was fine. Wounded but alright. That was the first time.
The second time he should’ve died was in the lair of the strange electric monster they met in the dreamlands. He was shocked with hundreds of volts while he already had severe injuries and walked away alive. Again, shaken but alive.
What’s that saying? One time’s luck, twice is fate, three times is more than coincidence?
Well it keeps happening.
Again in the mine when he gets jumped by the monster of the collective, again when he gets shot by the butcher (and even the butcher seems surprised to find him alive), again at the farm with the mudurous worms.
This isn’t including the times where Arthur and John bargained for each other’s lives. I think that’s a distraction- relevant to the plot but not what I’m talking about.
Maybe this is a completely contrived theory. Maybe it means nothing. But then again maybe there’s more to it than what we see- or hear….
