i try REALLY hard not to make my identity solely from the things i do out of the sheer fear of losing them. if i label myself as a writer and lose my ability to write i will literally combust, so i try to define myself by more innate traits rather than things that can be taken away from me

oh god ur asking a psych major this. i think about this question all the damn time. nature vs nurture is insanely complex and beyond my full sophomore psych major comprehension, so i really can’t answer. yes and no. at my core i’d be the same bc there are innate traits i don’t think could be raised out of me, but my upbringing shaped so much of me and comes up in every therapy session. so,,, idk.
