I love the thrill of making a recipe for the first time regardless if it turns out right or not. These are plum dumplings made with a raw potato dough, a traditional central European recipe which I’ve “veganized” as much as possible. The recipe for plum dumplings comes from my great grandmother and calls for Italian plums, which are only available for a very brief window in the late summer to early fall. I’m always so delighted when I spot the Italian plums at the grocery store or farmers market. From my earliest memories plum dumplings are the taste that defines the waning days of summer on the very cusp of fall.
