Game Night at the Seishi House

For this year's group portrait of the Seishi Subsystem, we wanted something a little more dynamic and representative of the relationships between everyone. Lots of things have changed since last year! Kaz doesn't get to spend as much time with his subsystem now that he's co-host, but they still get together from time to time.

Contrary to what this illustration may imply, Dante, Nero, and Virgil actually get along better than ever these days. They are often found cuddling together on the couch, or starting play-fights that inevitably end in makeout sessions.

Loki, meanwhile, continues to kick everyone's asses at video games. This illustration shows the other ways in which Loki is currently changing: his new tattoo in progress is part of a his journey of processing trauma and gaining more agency over how he responds to those feelings and memories.

The past year has been a very challenging one for the Seishi-dan, but we're so proud of all they have accomplished. 💜

Is being polyfrahmented always because of trauma?

Unlike other system types, we've never seen any evidence or anyone's personal experience of polyfragmentation whilst being completely unaffected by trauma in both origin & function. However, we don't want to exclude the possibility entirely, since psychology is a soft science and saying that something is impossible because I've never seen it is incredibly ignorant. However, everything tying to polyfragmentation for us seems to have direct connection to trauma. The only exception could be the high introjection/splitting rate, since we get many endogenic headmates often as well via things like autistic mirroring and hyperempathy, but there's always a chance we're so susceptible to introjection in the first place because of our polyfrag state. Basically it's very chicken or the egg for us, but we've never personally seen a polyfrag system uninfluenced by trauma.
