I started watching The Last Homely House on YouTube and was inspired to start my own slow stitching project. Meet the beginning of my English Paper Piece Plus Quilt.

My goal is to complete a baby quilt by my guild’s 2026 quilt show. I’ve made quite a bit of progress this month but I’m in no rush and am focused on enjoying the process.

I’m a few months into this project now, so I thought I’d post a bit of an update! I’ve done five sets of pluses and the patchwork is now to its final width (34.5”) at the very widest spot, though it has a long way to go on getting to its final height. In the end I’ll have done about 14 sets and it will make a nice baby quilt.

If you weren’t here for the original post, this is just a little something to keep my hands busy in the evenings so I’m in no hurry to finish—though I do hope to have it ready for the September 2026 quilt show my guild will be hosting. Perhaps by then someone I know will be expecting a baby for me to gift it the quilt to.

Plus baby quilt top all stitched together. I think it is time to have a quick peek at the rugby score and then head off to bed. I have had quite a productive day quilting and otherwise today. The house is very quiet, I think everyone else has gone to bed and left me to my sewing. Good thing my wee Singer Featherweight is so quiet!
