I refuse to suffer alone so fun fact: there’s a series of Lost Texts on Yashiori Island that tells the tale of a team of samurai sent by the Kujou Clan Head to investigate if the Tatarigami was real or not coz the old man didn’t believe it.

Anyways at least two people are lured and sacrificed by a village chief who was corrupted by the Tatarigami, orders were made by the Clan Head to sink ships with sick people and refugees onboard in order to “save time” which the rebels are promptly blamed for, and in the end the entire team dies/disappear as they slowly went mad and succumbed to an unknown illness.
