Graeae (Γραῖαι, 'old women'/'grey women') were three sisters from Ancient Greek mythology, daughters of the primordial sea gods Phorcys and Ceto. They shared one eye, which they took turns using.

Pop culture adaptations sometimes blend them with Moirai, goddesses of fate. Normally they are separate entities though.

Ceto's name was also derived from cetus, generic Ancient Greek name for sea monsters (most of them were actually mothered by her). In Chinese Childe's constellation also shares the name with a real life constellation, which is called Cetus in English.

upd: also apparently in CN it's just 灰眸, grey eyes. so the parallel could be completely invented by the EN translators.

My Theory:

We already know Teyvat has a "fake sky." Phanes (The Primordial One) sounds incredibly similar to Phainon (from Amphoreus) — both names share Greek roots meaning "to shine/reveal," they share the same VA patterns, and both are heavily associated with the concept of destruction/remaking worlds.What if Teyvat’s "fake sky" isn't a prison... but a cosmic shield? What if Phanes created the barrier specifically to hide Teyvat from the Aeons (like Nanook the Destruction) and the rest of the Honkai universe?If that barrier shatters, Teyvat is completely exposed to the cosmos. I am honestly so overwhelmed and terrified of where this story is going because Amphoreus lore is already so heartbreaking...What do you all think? Are we looking at the ultimate HoYoVerse crossover?

Look at the new profile avatar unlocks! One of them literally mentions "Her Palace Collapses Into the Blizzard" and the locked avatar looks SO SIMILIAR to a Flame Reaver unit/boss, which heavily ties to Amphoreus from Honkai: Star Rail!

genshin’s biggest fumble in terms of lore in books is giving us the author’s commentary on “flowers for princess fischl” in inazuma but not letting us read the actual book. like i know that book has to have some crazy lore hidden in it, like “legend of the shattered halberd” (which is by the same author in-game) or like “the pale princess” or like “vera’s melancholy”

also i just wanna read more about fischl! fischl lore genuinely drives me insane. like we’re 6 years into this game, and we still don’t know who the character of fischl is based off of. hopefully hoyo will give us the actual full book sometime in the future.
