IT’S MORE FUN IN VALENZUELA
Valenzuela City is not really an official state of the country. Whereas it is just a part of the province of Bulacan. However, due to the rapid growth of the Greater Manila Area in terms of population, the socio-economic requirements of the early 70′s and Valenzuela’s proximity to the Greater Manila Area, give way on the declaration of the Presidential Decree No. 824 on November 07, 1975. This includes the creation of the Metropolitan Manila Commission and the separation of the municipality of Valenzuela from the province of Bulacan. This leads to the economic growth of the Valenzuela City.
Thus, museums for the Valenzuela City have been created. Museo Valenzuela was opened to public last November 06, 1998 and is located at Fatima Avenue, Marulas, Valenzuela City. This serves as the historical and cultural center of Valenzuela City. Also, the creation of Valenzuela City Museum takes place.
This the project of the Cultural Affairs and Tourism Development Office (CATDO) which was established at the Legislative Building in the City Government Complex. This is one of the legacy edifices mounted by outgoing Mayor Win Gatchalian for the promotion of Valenzuela City’s rich culture and heritage. Valenzuela City Museum was built last June 27, 2013 at City Hall, MacArthur Highway, Valenzuela City. It is open every Mondays to Fridays exactly 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
CREDIBILITY
Way back 2013, the Valenzuela City Museum was constructed and already has 4 years of existence. Visiting the Valenzuela City Museum is like traveling down the memory lane to reminisce the history of the said city. Unlike the Museo Valenzuela where it is more focused on memorabilia of Dr. Pio Valenzuela, Valenzuela City Museum tackles different historical eras and narrates stories that shares Valenzuelano’s sense of pride and dignity. The museum also contains the recorded valuable stories from past up to the present time.
LOCATION
Valenzuela City Museum is located inside the Valenzuela City Hall. It is near at Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Valenzuela, ALERT and Valenzuela City People’s Park. Its location is convenient not only for the Valenzuelanos within the said areas but also for the tourists who want to know more things about Valenzuela CIty. Since the museum is not that big and is located inside the City Hall, somehow it is not easy to be noticed by some people.
ACCOMMODATION
From the moment that we enter the Valenzuela City Hall, the guard asked where we are going and she guided the way to the museum. That characteristic is one of the most essential trait that all of us need when we are going to places like this. It also gives the same feeling of being welcomed. Though some facilitator looks strict, they are still approachable.
DESIGN
Valenzuela City Museum covers up to 300 square meters inside the City Hall. The space is quite small for the integrity of the museum. Compared to other well-known historical museums, Valenzuela City Museum is really a small museum so you will expect that the informations there are limited. However, the 300 square meters is worth every corner and is filled with historical facts that everyone of us is a part.
AVAILABILITY
One of the good components of Valenzuela City Museum is that it is available for anyone at anytime. Based on our own experience, we went there exactly at 11:00 am and there are only few people in the museum. Most of them are students from Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Valenzuela and the rest are ordinary people whom I think are also interested about the said museum too. Valenzuela City Museum is open from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm every Monday to Friday.
REQUISITENESS
The moment we entered the museum, we are curious and also excited at the same time, but then, the facilitator approached us and told us to be quiet or else we need to leave the place. Unlike any other museums that have many rules and regulations, Vaenzuela City Museum has only limited ethical requirements. The most important thing is to stay quiet throughout your whole stay in the museum. Staying quiet does not literally means you need to shut your mouth, a little chitchat will do. There is also a painting inside the museum that was attached on the floor and it is strictly prohibited to stepped on it. However, we are allowed to take pictures on the artifacts inside the museum.
SERENITY
The Valenzuela City Museum’s location, design, ambiance, plus the temperature of the room because it is fully air-conditioned, adds up to the totality of the museum. It gave us a soothing feeling the moment we entered the museum up to the time we left the museum. Also, all in all, we felt great that we were there and we witnessed with our naked eye every details of the history of our beloved city. On our whole stay inside the Valenzuela City Museum, we absolutely felt home.

ARTIFACTS
We loved the artifacts we’ve seen inside the museum. As you can see in the photos above, it contains every single thing that a Valenzuelano can be proud of. Starting from the Pre-Colonial Period down to the current happenings in Valenzuela City, you can see it in the museum. Even though, compared to the other big museums where you will see plenty of artifacts, here in Valenzuela City Museum, it is only limited. However, this does not affects the city itself because with artifacts or not if you are really proud of being a Valenzuelano, nothing can stop you.
