The original Mona Lisa is known for the smiling woman at the front, often leaving critiques of the background sparse, save for in art-centric circles. This is similar to how environmental issues are often overlooked by those who do not want to see it, and would rather shift focus to what they see as beautiful. To critique this perspective, I edited a video of a garbage dump, displaying all of the human waste collected there. The moving background against a static well known image draws the eye away from the foreground, in an attempt to remind the audience to look further into environmental pollution.

For this, I combined the “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness” quote with familiar images from advertisements and images of environmental destruction. I play with the ideas of excessive consumerism at the expense of the environment, in relation to American ideals and what represents us as a nation. Here, the lofty hopes from the Declaration of Independence are shown to have degraded over time into the kind of mass consumerism and obsession with material goods, despite the environmental cost, that can symbolize American culture today.

what's better am classes or pm? i'm doing a lot of ciomp sci/math courses and everything is fairly spread out. are people more laid back in evening? do less ppl show up if class is at 10?

Yes people show up at 10. And "laid back" in the evening is not necessarily true. The time of a class doesn't really determine how the class is going to go. People show up less to night classes, in my experience. Or at least long night classes
