Hi hot take but the owner of Peanut The Squirrel was an asshole and a dumbass, he had 7 YEARS to register his squirrel so it wasn’t an illegal owning situation and he didn’t. People told him to STOP posting his squirrel online for YEARS as it could get him in trouble and his squirrel in danger and he never did, he clearly only cared about the money that squirrel made him. Yes, the squirrel dying is heartbreaking, but this would have never have happened if he never posted the squirrel online (and or actually registered it) in the first place.
Oh and the squirrel was obese and he was abusing the squirrel, so there’s that. The squirrel was even missing a part of its tail.
Although yes, the police having a full on raid in his house is complete and utter bullshit, you seriously only need one animal control worker to get their pets. The police were assholes.
BUT with the owner getting BITTEN, I don’t think people realize how seriously the police take rabies, if they have any reason to believe an animal has rabies, like an illegal squirrel, they’re gonna kill it. You seriously have to sign papers if you think you may have come in contact with rabies and do not want to get shots for it. Rabies is a fate worse than death, and the police do not want that shit going around. (Still doesn’t require a full on raid though lmfao)
