My sis did cool costumes for my nephew for a couple years but around 4 they start to have strong opinions about what they wanna be :( he's some halo guy this year (he's 6)

i get that, especially when it’s really complicated and you want your kid to fit in with all of his friends who have store bought costumes. i just really appreciate seeing some creativity!!!! i don’t want to judge all of these people’s lives because not everyone has as much free time, especially not anymore. and tbh a lot of store bought costumes are okay. especially if you get separates and mix and match accessories or other elements that you made yourself with them. like when i was the bride of Frankenstein one year my mom bought a generic dress and wig for me, but she added the white side stripes to the wig with paint, added little details to the dress, and did my makeup with scars that gave it a personal touch.

i really just have a deep seeded hate for those one piece padded muscle superhero costumes. like this or this. where all the details are printed on and it’s just. eh. idk how you get around it when it’s something super complicated, but when my brother wanted to be batman my mom made him a really cool costume by modifying a black hoodie and other prexisting clothes and bought him a cape and mask to go with it.  like, she did not spend hours sewing shit, but that little effort turned out awesome.

Do you prefer your followers know of any good, left leaning canadian political commentators on tv? Preferably someone with a full show, not just a segment in another newscast. Something akin to Rachel Maddow or Anderson Cooper but for Canadian news?

Desmond Cole hosts a radio show semi-periodically. I’m not sure of anyone on mainstream tv, though. Canadaland also hosts a podcast, but again that’s not tv.

As someone who's lived in both Quebec and Alberta, I've heard a LOT of shit from both sides about the other. Some of it is even true! But my view is this: I can complain about MY family until I'm blue in the face, but as soon as someone else insults them, we have a problem.

@pobody wow she sounds like a real peach. like im definitely left of the democratic party, but that’s a whole other… wow. like taking a left from the mainstream and driving straight off a cliff. i would have done the same thing.

i’m sorry about it too. the thing is my dad doesn’t know what he’s talking about he’s just loud and aggressive and anyone with any kind of debate skills would crush him and reveal that his “political opinions” are merely shrouds for really hateful beliefs.

i’m really bad at speaking on the spot in general, and, because he gets me heated by insinuating that i don’t know what im talking about, i’m even worse so we just end up yelling at each other and it’s bad.

i really just need to NOT ENGAGE, but at the same time me saying “we don’t need more military spending and afterschool programs shouldn’t be cut” to my mom really shouldn’t be a controversial statement that ends in a fight. (esp. bc my mom works for an afterschool program!!! like i get that he doesn’t care about food insecure elementary school students bc he's awful, but it directly effects us!!)
