she's always done that. i used to love wearing bindis. and i guess it isn't quite as bad b/c we're dark skinned poc but it's still. problematic. and ugh. i try to explain and she just says im policing her and being judgmental and that tumblr ruined me lol.

i used to love jamiroquai but he's so into appropriation of native american culture and he's also rly hypocritical in regards to his views on electronics/etc and nature conservation b/c he makes loads of music videos that use a lot of electronics and freaking collects cars and ugh he's just

like he's v v british but he wears this shitty faux native american headdress when he performs and there are a few videos where he's wearing really realistic looking ones and talking about how he's one w/ nature and just

and sunny and my mom loooove him and i rly used to love him so his videos are always on and it's.... frustrating

sigh. jamiroquai is racist as fuck and im disappointed in myself that i know the lyrics to like half of his songs and even more disappointed that my mom likes him and thinks that his appropriation and fetishization of native american culture is respectful

I'm sorry if I'm being rude, but I was wondering, are you multiracial (more specifically, mixed with an asian heritage)? I don't want to be assumptive, but I got rly curious because you look a bit similar to my friends and I in some aspects.

i am multiracial! i am not of asian heritage, but i am part saami native. the saami are indigenous nomads residing in scandinavia, and simply put they are of scandinavian and inuit descent. related to the inuit of alaska? except in. scandinavia.

i am also african-american, seminole native, cherokee native, and norwegian!!!! 

basically i am very, very mixed.

i wish there were more words to describe 'slanty' eyes. like, there's a difference between the kind you're talking about and the epicanthic fold (the typical 'east asian' look of eyes.) like, saying slanty can sound really offensive but i jus kind of accept it bc i dont know what else one would say. idk the word 'slanty' just kinda bothers me but you're of the same people and i know you dont mean it offensively

although i suppose in bjorks case, describing ehr eyes more as an epicanthis fold would work - not sure there the distinction between ‘just slanty’ and epicanthic fold begins and ends bc it kinda gets mixed up

i can see how it would be offensive, apologies. epicanthic folds are prevalent in continents other than asia and in certain people with chromosomal disorders- my brother has down syndrome and epicanthic folds as a result of that- so ‘east asian’ eyes wouldn’t work either. it’s kinda frustrating, but whether or not it’s bigoted to use the term depends mostly on context i would think.

i think that all ‘slanty’ eyes are considered epicanthic folds? it’s a genetic thing, so most likely. there was a point when i knew a whole bunch about the term bc i was really into researching chromosomal conditions like a year ago, but a lot of the info has slipped out of my mind.

as bjork is most likely saami, which is technically inuit and european, the term epicanthic folds would defs apply.  but it also applies towards people with down syndrome etc so i think it’s mostly a general term.

if you ever find another term, please tell me! i’d be fine with using another term if i could find one. uwu
