Yall ever heard of Dungeon Dogs? No? Well now you have.

It is a silly mobile game that I have been following for years atp. Back in 2021 I joined a "Design-a-dog" competition where I submitted this goober. His name is Loreal, and he's a malti-pom with terrier features who is based on my dog, Loki. He is a dog who isn't able to express emotions until he meets his companion phoenix, Spitz, who helps him communicate with others and makes emoting ever so slightly easier. He is probably aroace and on the spectrum (and selectively mute), but I don't really own him anymore so take my words as a grain of salt.

I tried to replicate the style of the game for this piece, and I think I did pretty darn well. I am very proud of the result.

i cannot believe the castle cats fandom is still a thing i’ll be honest 😭

Well I’m here I guess. Got back into the game a little over two years ago. Jumped in right when they had the twin lords as villains, and was surprised that valentines event ended with a main character being mind controlled. Mind control, in the silly cat game?! And the villains showed up over multiple events, so there was growing sense of continuity. I really like how some of the silly lore is being remembered and built upon, as well as introducing new things like the Hero Guild order and the Catanian Circle. I got to see Colin Pine be introduced and have a whole character arc, of which I imagine was based on the fan fiction one of the developaws had created him for. It just feels like major developments are happening now, with little snippets of bigger story beats that can be built upon in the future. The current Purrismas event is centered around Conan meeting Sandy Claw’s family, as he is her boyfriend -to me a great example of building on already existing concepts. Mrs. Paws, who was already a hero in the game, finally showed up in the story, and Sandy’s sister Angela has gotten another appearance.
