danmei book club interest check!

hi all! i've been throwing around the idea of an online book club. i have several books laying around, and i need motivation to make time for them!! this club would be danmei themed, and i'm aiming for a super lowkey, relaxed spot to hang out.

so here's the vibes:

- probably on discord

- text chats for general yapping and book discussion

- "silent" voice chats for music streaming and reading "together"

- everyone could choose a book/series to read together, or it could be BYOB. or we could split off into groups? that'd be something to discuss

- i'd love a chat for "reading accountability". just a spot to post "i read a chapter today!" and we can all cheer you on :)

- possibly multiple channels for different danmei series, but not for unrelated topics. i'd try to keep this focused on reading danmei. there are lots of places for us to yap other fandoms and hobbies elsewhere!

this will likely be a 21+ space, maybe 18+. overall, i'm just looking to make a space for people to relax and not have to worry about needing social battery for a huge group chat 24/7. we're just reading and yapping about our favorite book genre!

What do you imagine tagging around in a pocket would be like?

Just kind of spitballing about this one and probably not going to be able to edit it too well before posting, so apologies in advance for the rambling!

In short: Depends on the pocket!

In long: Anything waist-level or lower and you're dealing with a lot of movement (depending on how tight the clothing is, as well. Pants pockets? Terrible, never, but the lower pocket on decently-long coat? Yeah that could be do-able.) but a lot of the time I tend to focus on chest pockets.

Chest pockets make communication way easier for the smaller person, could be tight and very warm in there depending on the chest/clothing makeup. I've always kind of imagined it like a very deep hammock sort of situation? You can stand in it but it wouldn't be tremendously stable.

The lower pockets (or even like a hoodie pocket, but god that would have to be just... so warm) allow for more opportunities for subtle touch/holding with the big's hand(s). Communication gets harder outside of that, but if you're just tagging along for fun, then it's not a bad sacrifice. (Possible solutions involve cellphone earbuds and the like).

Lint and dust are always one of those logistical thoughts I try to throw aside for the fantasy of pocket rides.

On the topic of logistics: movement could be intense. I am someone who, especially during the work day, am doing a lot of moving and rocking back and forth around my workstation, my hands and arms are always busy, and I will often take several steps backwards or spin/dip to get things/do things. If you can't see what's happening outside of the pocket to perhaps give you warning or at least context to the movements, I could see anyone with motion sickness issues (or even people who don't normally have an issue with that!) being made pretty uncomfortable throughout that sort of thing. If the fabric of the clothing is slack compared to the person's body, that's a whole additional level of swinging that could be added as well.

You've also got to worry about positioning of the pockets for things like: possible collisions with the environment/other people, what's going to happen if the person sits down/stands up, how much of a noticeable impact is the tiny making in that pocket, how hard is it to get the tiny in and out of that pocket and so on.

I think being less than one apple tall and someone finding me and just thinking "huh, this looks neat" and putting me in a shirt pocket any other pocket and taking me with them would fix me

the bus rocked gently, the tires humming a lullaby over the long highway. everyone else was asleep - or pretending to be - but daisy wasn't. her legs bounced agaisnt the edge of the booth seat, hair messy, stick, and tangled from the stage lights, eyes wide in the dim glow of the overhead lamp.

billy leaned agaisnt the doorway, rubbing his hands on his jeans. "shouldn't you be asleep by now, kid?" his voice was low, gravelly, but soft around the edges as they always were for daisy jones.

"i... can't." daisy mumbled, struggling to find her voice. she curled a little tighter into herself. "not tired."

billy sighed and came closer, holding out a bottle of water. "here. drink. blanket," he added, draping the soft, fuzzy thing over her shoulders before she could pout and protest. his fingers lingered just enough for her to notice, warm and steady.

"thanks." she said quietly, leaning her head against the cushioned wall.

billy sat across from her, his guitar resting on his lap. he strummed a few mindless chords, slow and gentle. after a few minutes, daisy's humming joined his; off key but sweet, and he smiled without thinking.

"songbird," billy murmured. "just five more minutes, yeah? we'll call it a night after this."

her eyelids drooped, her little body relaxing into the warmth of the blanket. billy's voice softened even more, humming the melody of a song daisy hadn't heard yet. the bus rocked. the road hummed. and finally, daisy's breathing finally evened out.

"good girl," billy whispered, setting his guitar aside. he brushed red locks out of her eyes. "got you." he teased. "go to sleep, daisy. good night."

and for the first time since the show ended, she did.
