emily’s endless list of ocs ✨
↳ ana martinez, eat your young 🫀
↳ ( in•sp )
Ana Martinez does not survive in the end.
She does not live to see her mother again, to play another game of soccer, or win another debate competition. She does not grow old, she doesn’t get married, she doesn’t see her older brother find peace. All she does is wither and rot, as all things do.
But Ana Martinez is not all dead, not fully. She lives on in the memories of the survivors, of those that got to see the plane that saved them. She haunts them, they see her in their periphery, in the gentle laugh of a girl, the breeze in autumn, the biting chill of a winter’s night. Because Ana Martinez is dead, but she is the reason they all survived.
Seventeen, almost eighteen, Ana was almost out of New Jersey, and she was going to go out with a Bang! She’d been the team’s Left-Winger since she’d graduated from JV when she was freshly fifteen, and despite being the Coach’s daughter, nobody could deny her being one of the strongest players on the team. She was a shoo-in for a full-ride scholarship to the University of North Carolina, she was going to be a star player and get a business degree while doing it. But first they had to win at Nationals.
Ana liked to believe that what happened next was the consequence of three things.
1. Taissa Turner breaking Ally’s leg, tearing it apart, right down to the bone.
Ana knew it was a bad idea, she’d argued against it, when Tai had proposed the idea to the small group of players. She’d stood strong beside her fellow Winger, Natalie Scatorccio, pleaded for them to see sense. But Tai was headstrong, and she wanted to win, and that wasn’t going to happen if Ally was on the field with them.
Ana figured she didn’t fight enough.
2. The Yellowjackets being prideful, arrogant, and sometimes, downright mean.
It wasn’t their fault, any of them. Ana and the rest of the team, they were just kids - teenage girls, most of which hadn’t even hit eighteen yet. Teenage girls are mean, they tear at your throat with words of poison, and teeth filed to sharp points – they pick you apart piece by piece, they consume your very being until they spit you back up, a perfect mold of themselves.
Each of the Yellowjackets had a vice, something that made them imperfect, something that made them wrong.
Ana wasn’t sure if it was the fact that she liked girls or the fact that she liked to throw eggs at the houses of kids who pissed her off that made her wrong.
She just knew that she was.
3. Ana Martinez telling her father she hated him.
Sure, Mr. Martinez wasn’t perfect, he wasn’t a particularly good father, he was harsh and stern and cared all too much about soccer than he did about his children, but he was still her father. He worked harder than anyone she’d ever known, he made sure that she had whatever she needed, and when she was hurt – emotionally, physically, whatever it may be – he made sure to pat her on the head and slip a plate of sopapillas under her bedroom door.
And the truth was that Ana loved her father, more than anything else in the world – even if he hadn’t told her he loved her in two years, even if he frowned more than he smiled. But he had upset her, in the way that only he could. Instead of congratulating her for their big win, for saying how excited he was for them to go to nationals, for telling her he was proud of her, he had critiqued her.
Ana had never been good at receiving critique from her father, but this time, when she’d been coming down from such a high, she simply couldn’t handle it, which is why she’d yelled.
So, this was why Ana believed they’d crashed, why they had to do what they had to do, endure what they endured. Ana believed that the reason she died was because no matter how hard she worked to help everyone, to make sure the team stayed together and stayed alive, it didn’t matter, because at her core, Ana Martinez was a girl, and she was twisted, wrong.
I Polish Up Real Nice ft. Mirage Carmichael/Five Hargreeves

this is a remake of a gifspam about a year old, it's under the cut along with some notes about Mirage's evolution!!
Mirage Mirage Mirage... when I first created her, I simply wanted a self-insert oc to ship with Five bc I am In Love with the grumpy old man. As I delved deeper into her relationship with Five though, I realized that I had to give Mirage her own problems and challenges, she couldn't just be Five's lover because in my interpretation of his character, Five isn't the kind of person to just fall in love with a pretty sassy girl, he has to be able to connect with the person, and he has to have a love interest that's competent in their own way, being able to stand up on their own two feet without Five coddling their every move. The first-ever ideas for Mirage were basically just "Kaz Brekker but make her do government-ish stuff, assassin, targeted by the Handler and nearly gets killed by her, aversion to touch" Absolutely no notes on her relationship with the other two kids that were adopted by AJ -- Emmy and Telepath -- and an entire google doc dedicated to her and Five oneshots
yeah, I was whipped af lol
but after some time, in which I poked around in other fandoms and got "better" at creating backstories and motivation, I circled back to Mirage. I started thinking about what could've turned someone who was groomed to be AJ's successor, someone who was only taught the basics of fighting before the Handler came, into an assassin who bided her time until she could finally regain control of the Commission? I realized something that was very much inspired by a certain Marvel show that someone might have heard me complaining that I neglected the plot bunny I made for it (I swear I'll do it next year) was literally perfect for Mirage, it's a play on her name and power, and it fills in all the plot holes I ignored in the first few drafts of her story. So yeah, that's basically the story of Mirage's evolution, along with her faceclaim change due to me admitting that pairing someone in their late twenties with a teenager is just... weird and uncomfortable to me lol; Mirage is one of the first ocs I ever introduced on here, and she's also one of my most constant brainworms, like literally I can talk about her any time and place because there's so much to share about her asldaksda

HOW MUCH DOES it take to kill girlhood? Losing your parents to someone you thought you could trust? Said person kidnapping you and traveling across the country under a new identity? Forcing you to stay quiet about your past by threatening the life of your little sister? Valeria Medina thinks it starts with having to murder a stranger— someone who tried to help her and her sister— to save herself and Rosalia from Isobel. There is no coming back from that.
WHEN IS A monster not a monster? When you love it. The monster hiding behind Valeria's pretty face wants to eat, and eat, and satisfy its hunger. Valeria refuses to let it out, refuses to give in to Isobel and make her the monster she wants her to be. Valeria knows you must do what it takes to survive, and sometimes that means to become the greater monster. She will do what it takes to save her sister from the screams that taunt her mind as she sleeps, to stop her from becoming Valeria.
VALERIA BARES THE weight of the world on her shoulders so Rosalia doesn't have to. She does Douglas' dirty work for him, meeting up with shady people in brightly-lit, newly built Starcourt Mall to complete the drug deal. They see her as a God, willing to do anything she says, and they might as well have made a deal with the devil instead.
GOD HAUNTS HER, awake or asleep, innocent or guilty. He speaks to her, sweet taunts and false sympathies for the life he's given her. The clock is ticking, and her thread is snipped shorter and shorter. Father forgive her for she has Sinned, worse than murder, she loves a woman far more than she she has ever loved God.
ROBIN BUCKLEY MAKES it seem right when all is wrong. Her awkward fumbling for the right words to say that should be annoying isn't, and Valeria finds it quite endearing. The warmth feeling leaves her chest each time she catches herself, and she finds herself with a distraction in the form of illegal substances and a sweet boy who doesn't deserve this.
THE BITTERNESS, THE rage, the guilt, the disgust, the pain, and the hatred is all locked in a box with Valeria's name written in red on it with the key broken in half and thrown away. But Robin, with her healing hands, catches it and wants nothing more than to unlock the box of the Sins and Secrets of Valeria Medina. Even if it means her demise.
EDIT: as of 4/8/2024, Satomi’s star sign has been changed to Capricorn
Satomi Kurosawa is the daughter of Hanzo and Chihiro Kurosawa and heiress to the tech company KumoByte. Said to be exceptional in the field of computer science, the young woman has since disappeared from public view after a severe driving accident, a self-sentenced exile for her car spinning out of control when she was behind the wheel.
During this banishment, a masked vigilante named Prowler successfully bypassed the security measures in the mansion, but Satomi managed to hack into his headgear and shut his tech off from within. Removing the helmet revealed a young boy whose name was Miles Morales, a teenager who had recently lost his father to the cartel lurking in the shadows of New York, and who wanted revenge on those who benefitted from the suffering of people like him -- those who were on the top rung of society, like Satomi.
Surprised at the boy's proclamation, Satomi revealed the true reason she left society: she had suspicions that someone in her closest circles was leaking information to the cartel. The car crash was only the start, as Satomi believed that once the cartel got wind that she wasn't leaving the city, it was only a matter of time before they tried something else to get her out of the game and fought for her position as heiress. With similar objectives, Satomi offered her help to Miles, stating that her ability to hack into any digital database available would be useful if he wanted to do this without many noticing. Miles accepted her offer a few days later, and Satomi took on the persona of the Master of Spin, a digital figure that lurks between lines of code, waiting for its prey to wander in their spun trap.
One particular night, Satomi was journaling her latest exploration into the web when the internet went out -- then came back on in seconds. Sensing something strange at work, she immediately started to look for the source of the blackout; only to be interrupted by her bodyguard Miguel O'Hara, and a few moments later, Miles in their encrypted chat. Her partner had found something... something that might be more dangerous than the sinister six that loomed over Satomi's home.

As he was pushed into the room, a flash of blue fabric made Zoro's eyes flick to his right. With his sight met with a girl in a long blue dress, he coolly wondered if she was as much of a clown as the other sad members of Buggy's crew --
"The hell's these people doing in my room?"
The woman tying him up scowled, "Captain's orders. You have a problem with it, Puppet?"
