Week 4

Seed 2 [Character] rounded the corner and saw [Character] coming from the other direction. “I really didn’t expect to see you here.” “Why not?” “Because [reason].” "Want some company?" "[Response].” They kept walking and saw [a third character] hurrying down the sidewalk. "Hi [Character]. This is [Character], my [something]." [Character] nodded, but [they] didn't stop to chat. "Sorry, I'm late to [event]!" [They] rushed off. "Did you have to lie?" "Was I lying?" Seed 3 [Character] sat beside the brook and let [subject] tumble through [their] mind. Perhaps it was a mistake, [pursuing course of action], but [they] couldn't see a better choice. [They] pulled a book out of their bag, running [their] fingers over the cover. It fell open to a much-read passage, and [they] tried to immerse [themself] in the familiar words. However, [they] failed, and what-ifs kept running through [their] mind. What if [Character] was right, and [alternative course of action] was the correct one? What if [Character]'s course of action was the best one, but there would still be dire consequences like [(dramatic) consequence]. [Character] closed the volume. No, [they] decided, [course of action] was the best thing to do, and [they] were going to do it. [They] tucked the book back in their bag and stood up [adverb]. It was time.

Script:

Kurt rounded a corner in the sheet music store and saw Blaine coming from the other direction.

“I really didn’t expect to see you here again,” Kurt said.

“Why not?”

“Because I didn’t think you’d want to risk another awkward run-in with me?” Kurt tried a laugh.

Blaine didn’t laugh with him. He looked at Kurt like he saw right through him. Kurt wondered why Blaine couldn’t have looked at him that way when they were living together and everything was falling apart. Or maybe he had. Maybe that was the problem. There was something a little too familiar about the urge to run away from that gaze. Except now Kurt knew exactly how far running would get him. “Have to take care, unless there’s a where, you’ll only be wandering blind” sang the speakers, and Kurt laughed again, a little hysterically this time.

Blaine’s shoulders straightened and Kurt knew he had just made some kind of decision. 

“Want some company?" Blaine said. “I’m looking for a song to shake the Warblers out of their musical comfort zone. You always did have a knack for that.”

“Of course,” Kurt said, before he could think too hard about it.

They kept walking and saw Chandler hurrying down the aisle.

"Hi Chandler.” Kurt said. “This is Blaine, my best friend.”

Chandler nodded, but he didn't stop to chat. "Sorry, urgent Jonathan Larson emergency!” He rushed past them.

Blaine turned back to him, and suddenly his face wasn’t readable at all. “Did you have to lie?" he said.

Kurt smiled shakily. “Was I lying?"

Script:

Kitty rounded the corner of the McKinley field and saw Marley coming from the other direction. It was such an unexpected sight that for a second she thought she must be hallucinating from all the kale and protein shakes, but no, there Marley still was, walking straight towards her, standing out almost too vividly against the dull grey of the bleachers.

“I really didn’t expect to see you here,” Kitty said.

“Why not?” Marley said.

Kitty laughed bitterly. “Because this is ground zero? The place the worst betrayal of our lives happened? The place we were promised love and acceptance and home and safety and then the moment we let our guard down, we were abandoned for Sue Sylvester to use as chew toys?”

Marley looked at her with those ridiculous compassionate trusting eyes for a long time, and finally said, “Want some company?"

“Fine.”

They kept walking and saw Madison and Mason hurrying down the field towards them.

"Hi Jamie. Hi Cersei,” Kitty said. “This is Marley, my sister.”

The twins nodded, but they didn't stop to chat. "Sorry, we’re late to Glee practice!” they said in creepy unison and then rushed off.

Marley watched them go. Then she turned to look at Kitty. “Did you have to lie?"

Kitty looked right back at her. “Was I lying?"

Marley pulled her into a hug. And there, just for a moment, for the first time in months, Kitty felt safe enough to let herself cry.

PodfIDIC Seed 2

Welcome to podfIDIC's second seed script! Each week during the month of January we'll post a seed script in multiple iterations, structured differently so you can choose the starting place that works best for you. This week's seed has two versions; if you'd like the greater support of a seed with all the blanks completely filled in, check out Seed 1: Version 3. You are free to use either of the versions or a combination thereof — they're a seed from which you can build, not limits to fence you in. You are free to change all of the blanks or none of them; to add, remove, or alter any of the words in any of the versions (even if they are not blanks); and to build from the seed in any direction. To see some of the possibilities, check out Seed 1 and the stories people created. Version 1 has blanks left for you to fill in to tell the story. Version 2 builds on this, giving several different possibilities of what you might choose (though you’re always welcome to choose none of the ones given and create your own!).

[Character] rounded the corner and saw [Character] coming from the other direction. “I really didn’t expect to see you here.” “Why not?” “Because [you said you were organizing your sock drawer / you ran away screaming 'braaaaaains' last time / I thought you were avoiding me / _______].” "Want some company?" "[If you must / only if you're dying for some black pudding / I really do / _______].” They kept walking and saw [third character] hurrying down the sidewalk. "Hi [Character]. This is [Character], my [most trusted agent / favorite reanimated corpse / soon-to-be-spouse / ________]." [Character] nodded, but [they] didn't stop to chat. "Sorry, I'm late to [a very important date! / my gaming group, and I get to play the human this time! / therapy / ______]!" [They] rushed off. "Did you have to lie?" "Was I lying?" Once you've created a fanwork based on the seed, we ask that you upload it to the podfIDIC: Seed 2 collection at AO3. The collection will remain unrevealed until Saturday, Jan. 17 at 6:00 pm EST. At that point it will be revealed and Seed 3 will be posted. However, if you're still creating, that's awesome! The collection will remain open for new works until Jan. 31 at 12:00 pm EST, at which point it will be closed and the Master List of all fanworks created for podfIDIC will be posted.

I made a thing! This is a podfic project, and it's AUDIO ONLY, but this (and most projects for this) are <2 minutes long and there's streaming. I'd REALLY love if you gave it a listen and let me know what you think!
