Next time you're looking for a tasty snack, try some feathers! Australasian grebe parents have been recorded eating their own feathers, and feeding feathers to their young. This behavior is thought to help prevent injuries from swallowing sharp fish bones, and can recycle nutrients stored up in the feathers!
