Hi! I figure it's time I introduce myself. My name is Kai! My pronouns are he/him, I'm 25 years old, and I live in Oklahoma.
I primarily use my Canon Rebel t5 with a Sigma 150-600mm for my wildlife photography.
Here's a Masterlist of all of my tags!
Thank you for being here and I hope you enjoy my photos! I'm gonna drop some fun facts about me under the cut!
• I got my first camera, a Canon Rebel t5, in 2014 and started out taking landscape photos. Mostly sunsets and photos of the lake and whatnot. I had to replace my camera with the same model in 2016, so I've been using the same one for about 8 years!
• Around January of 2018, I started sitting outside under an Eastern red cedar tree at my house and watching the Northern Mockingbirds moving around. I took photos using a 75-300mm lens and fell in love.
• In 2019 I started taking photos using a Tamron 200-500mm telephoto lens to take better photos of the birds and to be able to study them more.
• In 2023 during a break, i started going outside every single day when birds were hiding from the 100⁰F weather. I started developing an interest for other things, such as insects. I would wander through the pasture looking for anything i could find.
• Some major interests of mine include: Tiger Beetles, dragonflies, and just about any kind of moth :)
• I really enjoy macro photography! Small insects, small flowers, I love anything small.
• I've seen around 1,800 species of everything including plants and fungi :)
• I also am getting very into wildflowers and fungi at the moment! So expect to see flowers and fungi soon!
Thank you so much for reading to the end! I really hope you guys enjoy my photos :) feel free to send a message or an ask if you ever want to talk!
Roseate Spoonbill (Platalea ajaja) juvenile. Family Threskiornithidae, order Pelecaniformes.
Snowy Egret (Egretta thula) flying in. Family Ardeidae, order Pelecaniformes.
These two foraged side by side together for about 10-15 minutes before the egret decided I was too close and took off. I love getting to see different species interact with each other 🥰
Yellow-crowned Night Heron (Nyctanassa violacea). Family Ardeidae, order Pelecaniformes.
I went to Oxley Nature Center a few days ago looking specifically for two birds: Prothonotary Warbler, and a Yellow-crowned Night-Heron. While I didn't get a pic of the warbler, I did get to see them both!!
Common Yellowthroat (Geothlypis trichas). Family Parulidae, order Passeriformes.
Heard this little guy singing forever, and saw him from across the field as just a little yellow dot. At the last moment when i was leaving, he popped up right next to the parking lot to say goodbye :)
