(SPOILERS for the FIRST DRAGON) The Poesibilities....that I can remember...

What is confirmed and known. Cain, Archimago (Edmund Spenser’s the Faerie Queen), Prospero (Shakespeare’s the Tempest), Edgar Allan Poe. Possibilities. Drosselmeyer (E.T.A Hoffman’s The Nutcracker and the Mouse King). I at one point thought Plato...but having read more about him...definitely not. Definitely still think he could be Virgil. If only because of the amusement of new Caretaker Dante getting lost in the Underneath and Virgil (Poe) deciding to be of some assistance. At least part of the way. Michael Scott. Some cool Advisor guy who was said to be a magician. Possibly Aeolus? The dude with the Bag of Winds in the Odyssey (mostly due to him being Prospero...Weather and stuff). Zoroaster? Maybe not...someone like that. Some notable Alchemist (other than Nicolas Flamel). The Original Orpheus? I forget what was said about Orpheus in SftRD. Other Mystics, Wizards, maybe a Saint at some point? One of the Three Magi (I don’t know which. But one of them). Timur (Tamerlane)? People known for building Cities ( A Solomonar ( Wizards from Romanian Folklore who rode Dragons and Controlled the Weather) Solomon? Probably not? Weary of that...I mean known for Binding Demons and stuff right? ...so...maybe? Notable Necromancers?( again going to a line from Prospero in the Tempest. Opening Graves and commanding the occupants and stuff). If any fellow Scowlers and Cottagers know of any other Poesibilities feel free to share. I’m sure your guys’ ideas are far better than mine. Greek Poesibilities both Mythical, and ‘Tragic’.

Here I am wondering about Poe. Haven’t been able to figure out any Greek Mythological figure just yet for Poe to have been (Magical?, Oracles?, Heroes?, ) Though I imagine he’s probably crossed paths with Chiron at some point. Either as a Student, or a friend. I have wondered if Poe might have been any of the Greek Playwrights. Narrowing it down to the big three of Tragedy...and from there probably Aeschylus or Sophocles. As for why those two in particular, it’s because of their views on Suffering. At least as I’ve learned it. For Aeschylus (going by the Orestia), that Suffering is a means to enlightenment. Or rather after suffering one can gain wisdom or something...something along those lines. And since Poe has likely had plenty of loss in his long long life, and is noted to be quite wise...that seems to fit. Then there’s Sophocles. From what I remember the idea of a Sophoclean hero is one who examplifies endurance. One who has experienced suffering but hasn’t let it ‘defeat them’ and is eventually rewarded because of it. Exemplified by ....Oedipus in Oedipus at Colonus.. So Sophocles or Aeschylus...I might be leaning a bit toward Aeschylus because of the Wisdom and the stuff with Athena....(having a Bust of Palas)...but I’m not certain. Make of this what you will. A uncertain Poesibility....a wise one...a weary one?

Here I am again, thinking up Poesibilities. There’s a thousand so...there’s a lot. Four out of a thousand are known. Then less than ten or so that have been guessed at. So there’s still plenty to be. I realize some might just be roles, not anyone notable or obscure, or even Named. But might as well try and entertain some Names... One I’ve wondered about some time but I’m not too sure. That one being Solomon the Wise. Though only reason I’m not as certain as I’ve been is mainly due to my ignorance regarding Solomon. Really my knowledge about him is he’s renowned for Wisdom (Being the S in SHAZAM!). And the main thing is the whole commanding Demons and such to build a Temple (which brings to mind the Power of Naming and all such demons being Named, as well as Prospero’s own Command of various Spirits and Entities).... I digress. I do not name Solomon as a Poesibility with any certainty...well none that I’ve guessed at has been with Certainty...but at least some have been with confidence. But with this one...I’m weary of suggesting it with any confidence. Partly due to my ignorance regarding Solomon save a thing or two. Partly due to the wariness of linking Solomon to Nimrod and Cain (this on top of y ignorance) And Partly due to....we’ll i don’t have a third thing. Merely habit. I sincerely hope said suggestion has been...in some way offensive....I would hate to offend. If such a suggestion has been an offense in some way in part due to my ignorance I’m sincerely sorry. An Arthurian Poesibility...

So there’s like a thousand....four that are known, one that I’m guessing at considering another title belonging to The Master of Tamerlane (that being the Sorcerer Archimago from the Faerie Queen). Among a few others. Generally going by the professions of other identities as a thread to follow...advisors, rogues, figures of tragedy, both important and minor. Benevolent, or possibly Antagonistic (such as Archimago...though not truly malevolent merely antagonistic). Anyway, one place he probably showed up in at some point is somewhere in stuff concerning King Arthur. Of course.... the first go tos are already Taken by Characters existing as themselves. Mainly Merlin (who going by some tellings would fit with Archimago on account of Shapeshifting) , but also Taliesin (though there are other Potential Poesible Poets..)... One thought was Sir Ector, but The Arthur, from what I remember, was raised by his mother Nimue and taught by Archimedes. So he’s out. Perhaps one of the Knights ? Some other Arthurian figure? The Fisher King maybe? I don’t know. I admit I’m not too familiar with Arthurian stuff....but someone is probably a Poesibility. Make of this what you will. More Pondering about Poesibilities (Spoilers for the First Dragon)

So there’s four confirmed identities of The Master of Tamerlane House. Cain. Nimrod. Prospero. And Edgar Allan Poe. I’m also going to assume Archimago from Edmund Spenser’s the Faerie Queen is another. So...that’s Five. Leaving about 995 others( with a Cap at 1000 given the use of a thousand lifetimes rather that the possibly greater thousands). That should be fun to think about. At least it’s not several... Let’s see. Zoroaster, one of The Three Magi, with Nimrod other Kings and Hunters are a possibility. With Poe we’ve got Poets and Storytellers, and with Prospero one can guess about Wizards, Sorcerers and the like. It’s almost going to be like Six degrees of Kevin Bacon...except not really I suppose. What fun, what fun. Should probably stick to the Fictional, Mythical, or at least those Historical figures with who have mythic elements about them. Since he did mention he spent his time in Kairos Time (prior to becoming Poe) 995....that’s a whole freaking lot.... What fun?? Make of this what you will. Al, the Chronographing Cottager.

(SPOILERS FOR COTIG AND THE FIRST DRAGON) The Poesibilities So far....in no particular Order.

Hermes Trismegitus. Purported author of the Hermetic Corpus, the basis for Hermeticism (which Dee studied). Alchemist, Astrology, and practioner of Theurgy. Said to have been a contemporary of Abraham or of Moses according to some? ‘The greatest priest, greatest philosopher’, and other things. Said to have foreseen the coming of Christianity. The Original Orpheus: I forget most of SftRD but I remember the Caretakers thought the Shadow Of the Winter King was Orpheus only for it not to be the Orpheus. Main reason is Orpheus’ connection to Lyres and Pipes, since apparently Cain also has connections to Lyres and Pipes. Plato: Greek Philosopher. Student of Socrates, teacher of Aristotle. Concerned with the idea of Justice and other things. While he apparently wasn’t that big a fan of Poetry...(sort of a problem)...Mainly considering him due to the concept of the World of Forms and how that may connect to Naming and to all that stuff concerning Types in the works of Charles Williams. Virgil: Roman Poet. Mostly considering this due to Virgil’s role in The Divine Comedy, serving as a guide for Dante. One of the Three Magi. One of them. Either the oldest, the one who enjoyed licorice in that one story, or the one who brought Myrrh. Weyland The Smith: Blacksmith of Norse and Germanic mythology....made a lot of famous swords. Not sure about this one since Weyland would be a Maker and one of Cain’s whole thing was only being a Namer...I digress. Michael Scott: (1175-1232) Astrologist and Mathematician. Advisor to Frederick the Great. Gained a reputation as a Magician with several legends about him. One being he invited friends to a Feast with Spirits as Servants (sound a lot like a certain Duke of Milan). Turned a Coven of Witches into stone (becoming the stone Circle of Long Meg and her Daughters). Other works have him as a Magical Mentor of sorts. Nicolas Flamel: (1340-1418). French Scribe and Manuscript seller. Gained a reputation as an Alchemist and Imortal after his death. Like Scott, It’s mostly the legends about him that make me think this could be a possibility. Herr Drosselmeyer: Watch and Toy Maker from ETA Hoffman’s The Nutcracker Prince and the Rat King. And that’s about it so far. There might be a few more, but those are the ones I could remember. General professions for Poesibilities.

Poets. Wizards. Advisors (generally those connected to possible Imagos?) Philosophers? City Builders. Black smiths?( Weyland?) Pipe or Lyre players (so maybe the first Orpheus? Partly because the Lyre playing attributed to Cain, or the whole tragic loss of a loved one). Fun to think about. Some point I should really make a list...could be fun. Make of this what you will.
