HAPPY NEW YEAR! I always create a robin in December! This is oils, so it's still very WIP - final version is still drying. 2025 was a complicated art year for me. Lots of experiments, lots of fun, but lots of indecision. I enjoy too many things. 2026 is the year I narrow down my path and mediums. I think I know where I am headed... but then I remember how much I love all the other things and become confused again! All I know is I love birds. There will be many birds. Probably with plants on their heads.

Merry Christmas 🎄

I recall one Christmas when I was a child. Hmmm … actually I recall more than one, but I'm thinking of a particular one right now. We were headed to Texas from California on Christmas Eve, my father would drive all night. On these trips my mother would make a pallet of blankets on the back seat from my brother and I, this was back in the days before seatbelts. Driving across the desert, on Route 66, that year added to the magic because it snowed. There were constant sightings of Santa on the radio and my brother, and I would stare out the window into the night sky. We finally tired and fell to sleep. When we woke on Christmas morning, Santa had been there and there were presents in the back seat, complete with stuffed stockings.

A poinsettia I’ve managed to keep alive somehow. It's doing pretty well. These are only suppossed to last about three months after christmas, but you can keep them going for a second? So that's pretty cool. Wonder if I can push it further if i keep it healthy. First one that's lasted this long.
