Brendan helps Hiro alter his human form so his new default form looks pretty much exactly like canon Hiro (his earlier human form looked a bit different). When they go to visit Tadashi at first he doesn't recognize Hiro, because his shapeshift's so good! Also at least two team Magma members get distracted by Hiro and his puppy dog eyes. People ended up just assuming that Brandon had adopted this tiny cute kid, not that he has a Latias who really likes that he's good at the being human thing.
Tadashi actually refuses to turn visible at first because he thinks Brendan has brought a stranger to the island. It’s only after Hiro reverts to Latias form that he recognizes his brother, and he’s so impressed that he gives Brendan a hug. Considering that the last time the two met, Tadashi was threatening Brendan with bodily harm should anything happen to his little brother, Brendan is quite shocked.
More than once someone has actually assumed that Hiro is a pokemon trainer that’s travelling with Brendan. It’s really not that uncommon for younger, newer trainers to latch onto older and more experienced trainers. In fact it’s encouraged by the pokemon league because it gives the younger trainers a mentor to learn from as well as added protection while they’re starting out, and it gives the older trainers the chance to teach, as well as keep them up to date on the latest rules and regulations, and give them some companionship so they don’t get bored or lonely. So really, it’s perfectly understandable that people try to challenge Hiro to a fight.
Of course it always sends Brendan scrambling nervously for excuses because he can’t reveal that Hiro’s actually a pokemon without getting lots of awkward questions. Although there was one memorable occasion where Hiro took a trainer’s challenge to fight quite literally. Thankfully the guy recovered from the zen headbutt without too many injuries, and only slight memory loss.
Hiro had to ride around in a pokeball for a full week as punishment though. At least he learned his lesson.

Latias Hiro AU: A few weeks later Brendan sees Hiro adjusting his human form in the mirror. Then he starts working out how to use attacks in human form and it gets ridiculous. He likes making deliberately underpowered Mist Balls in his hands for use as a 'smoke machine'.
What he doesn’t know is that there’s ulterior motives to Hiro’s shapeshifting and learning to attack in human form, and all of Brendan’s pokemon are in on it.
A few weeks previous, Brendan had encountered a member of Team Magma while stuck in a location where he needed to keep his pokemon in their pokeballs (a theater, a crowded train, whatever). Nothing had come of it, of course, and Brendan had immediately dismissed it from his mind, but all of his pokemon were extremely concerned about it. They were worried about what might happen if Brendan was alone again in a place where only humans were allowed, where they couldn’t protect him.
So together they all hatched the plan to have Hiro travel with Brendan in human form all the time until Team Magma was no longer a threat. They helped Hiro practice his shapeshifting (Some members of Team Magma know what his default human shape looks like after all, so he needs to be able to disguise himself), and training his attacks. It was Swampert’s idea to modify Mist Ball to create a smokescreen in case Hiro needs to make a quick getaway without being followed.Hiro takes his assigned mission seriously, and practices as often as he can so that when the time comes, he can protect Brendan from any threats.
Sure, maybe Brendan’s pokemon are acting a bit paranoid, but there’s precedence for this. Brendan can’t seem to keep himself out of trouble.
Meanwhile, Brendan is oblivious. He just figures his Pokemon are really weird.

So that AU waaay back where Hiro was a Latias and went off on a journey with a human (what if the human was human Baymax though): imagine Hiro staring at himself in a mirror, using his illusions to change his feather shade every minute or so. His trainer's just watching in confusion because a trans male Latias is weird enough, but he's been changing the exact shade of his feather colour for HOURS now.
Oh yes, I think we’ve seen a few fanarts with Latias!Hiro. Plus there’s a fic out there that’s awesome, I think I’m following it on AO3?
What the trainer (Brendan in the one art and I like him a lot so let’s go with him, although Baymax works too) doesn’t realize is that Hiro overheard a bunch of trainers talking about shiny hunting the last time they were in town. Brendan had been to busy trying to figure out how to get to the Pokemon Center, and then the Gym, to be paying attention, but Hiro is very curious about humans and so when he heard the group talking so animatedly, he snuck closer to listen in.
Only to hear one of the trainers bragging that he’d found a shiny Ralts, and managed to catch it. When someone asked the trainer what had happened to his previous Ralts, the trainer had dismissed it, saying it wasn’t shiny, so it wasn’t as good.
Hiro, horrified, immediately wondered if Brendan would toss him away if he found a shiny Latias on their journey.
That’s why, later that day, Hiro spent hours in front of the mirror, trying to change his colour to shiny Latias colours. Because if he’s shiny, Brendan won’t send him away. But as hard as he tries, he can’t manage to get it to work, leaving him more and more frustrated. Finally he starts crying, and tries to attack the mirror. Finally Brendan realizes something is wrong, and he steps in.
It takes Brendan thirty minutes and support from all of the pokemon on his team to convince Hiro that he doesn’t care if Hiro is shiny or not. He would never send him away. There are many cuddles that night.
