Gamescom!
I'll be at Gamescom with PokeyPoke if anyone wants to come try it out. <3

I am making a video game and it looks a bit like this. It's called PokeyPoke and it might even come out one day. https://store.steampowered.com/app/1083230/PokeyPoke/
tutorial hard
I swear there is nothing more humbling in #gamedev than a playtest haha. Emma played Pokey last night, it actually went really well! But there is still SO much to do to teach people how to play this weird ass game.
I've spent a long time trying to show people they can (and should) hold down the spear button when climbing. And it's coming across much better, but I've noticed it can still be missed that you can jump WHILE holding on to the wall.
Still quite a bit of work to do but I'm happy with how this swirly transition effect is coming along. Really helps sell what is happening when you activate one of these statues.
still not quite there yet, but close!
The Future!
Hello. Here is a big dramatic Patreon post about The Future of my work:

The TL;DR: I want to make PokeyPoke. I want to make games. I still want to make useful stuff for other people, but I want to be a developer first again.
I am terrified nobody in my audience will want to really support this. PokeyPoke is a personal project and people support me cos I make stuff for *others*. But I've been doing that for ten years now and it makes me feel like my growth as a developer is stunted.
I will still do the stuff everyone is used to, but less often, better quality, and somewhat differently. If this doesn't work out, I will uh, get a Real Job finally I suppose! or Kickstart PokeyPoke, or find a publisher. Idk.
I just know I can't do The Same Thing I've been doing for ten years anymore. I wish I could. I envy those that can. But I cannot.
New PokeyPoke devlog about my trip to Gamescom!
Shout outs to GameMaker for having me along, and @wangleline for recording lots of useful footage!
PokeyPoke devlog 8, on the horrors of releasing a demo several years too early in development. 😅
