Hey everyone! Sorry I haven't posted much lately, but here's a little project that I did recently! I got into my first Zine ever, this one for Pokemon world NPCs. Basically, it's a zine that has short stories and art depicting other people in the Pokemon world. They just released the download link to the full PDF, that you can all see HERE. I highly recommend it, cause there's a lot of other great work in there from the other contributors! PokéZine 4 and its trading cards are here! ⊟ 

The original plans for a PokéZine binder fell through, but Jordan Rosenberg and Jonathan Visconti managed to make their dream for this fourth installment happen! Available to pick up now for $17, this print zine features contributions from 36 artists and graphic designers, each sharing their take on a design from the Pokémon Trading Card Game.

“PZ4 offers a twist—it’s a zine with cards inside. It aims to give viewers a nostalgic ping that transports them back to the playground in 1999, trading Pokémon cards with their classmates. PZ4 hopes to ignite memories of lugging your favorite, most prized cards around in a plastic binder. Back then, some video game magazines came with promo cards soft-glued inside, so inspiration was drawn from that as well.

The back of each card features a unique emblem. These are inspired by all manner of Pokémon lore—gym badges from the games, decals from other TCG sets, design queues from misc. Pokémon & even a sequence in the anime where our hero Ash dreamt up what his future badges look like.”

The cards are soft-glued to the pages, allowing you to peel them off. A number of artists we always love to see new stuff from contributed to the zine, like Arkotype, Jake Lawrence, KC Green, Leigh Davis, Walter P, and Thymine. See the full list and order PokéZine 4 here.

PokéZine 4 comes in a binder, and I love it  ⊟ 

The last three PokéZines -- tributes to Ice, Ghost, and glitchy Pokémon from dozens of talented artists -- released as traditional print zines, but they’ve evolved since we last saw them three years ago. This new entry to the series takes its inspiration from the Pokémon Trading Card Game and a set of 36 trading cards featuring Pokémon illustrations by as many artists.

Curated and designed by Jordan Rosenberg (and art directed by Jonathan Visconti), the set comes nostalgically packaged in a slim 3-ring binder with a foil stamp cover. Participating artists include Tiny Cartridge friends and favorites like Arkotype, Jake Lawrence, Leigh Davis, and many others.

This kind of project requires some upfront money to produce, though, so Jordan and Jonathan have launched a Kickstarter project ($10,000 initial goal) to raise cash and take preorders. Some of the backer rewards include DRM-free PDFs of the zine, physical copies of the Binder ($35), and production sketches. I really want to see this make it to print, so please support the project!
