Imagine genociding a whole population of people, and when you’re called out, you pull out a minority/oppression card. That’s like Nazi germany being told to stop genociding European Jews and claiming “you’re being racist for telling us not to cleanse these thieving creatures.”

The Israeli sponsored ads about people hating Jews, because they are being called out on their genocide of innocent people is actually quite funny. In a way it will have the opposite effect and actually cause people to hate them (maybe that’s their plan). It’s like dude we don’t care if you feel attacked, how about you actually stop attacking innocent women and children in Palestine. Your fee fees are ridiculous and we can see the propaganda. It would have worked during world war 2, but we are living in the current world, maybe stop killing people and you will stop being criticized.

The most sinister thing is them trying to get their oppression points by finally recognize black/African Jews. Like we can do some simple research to see how Israel abuses and kills Ethiopian/ African/Black Jews and views us as a disease on the Jewish name. These negroes want to be accepted so badly they will participate in ads, that given any other time, they would be ridiculed for attempting to take over the Jewish identity.

Sorry Israel, the propaganda is not working

In your activism, please do not forget about the women and children in Congo, Sudan, Haiti, Chad, and many other nations.

So I started rewatching Grey's Anatomy it gives me motivation to study (when I manage to stop watching it) but it also stresses me out so much like is it just me or does anyone else cry after literally ever single episode? And it makes me wanna become a doctor even tho I knows it wouldn’t be the right thing for me. But I’m actually quite happy with my degree even I’m only in the first semester.

A Very Short Fact: In recent US elections, around 36% of total citizens have voted in midterm elections and about 50% in presidential.

“First, Americans elect more than 500,000 public officials, more than is the case in any other democracy. We separately elect executives, legislators, and in some cases judges (that varies from state to state), at the federal, state, and local levels … The so-called long ballot evolved in the nineteenth century as a way to extend democracy, but some claim that our system might have produced too much of a good thing.

Because the presidency is the largest prize in the system, the quadrennial election of the president of the United States dominates all other elections. As a result, citizens concentrate on the presidential election and pay less attention to other elections “down the ballot.” Some citizens vote only for those elections at the top and leave other choices blank. This phenomenon is called falloff and can amount to more than 25 percent on extremely long ballots.”

23 January Status: feeling more motivated than I did a couple of days ago. Today I had my first politics tutorial and I think this term's meeting are going to be great. I really like my tutor and my group was a lot more talkative than the last one (sorry everyone). The assigned read my for today was horrible though, my tutor even admitted so. I hope next week's reading will be better.

A Very Short Fact: On this day in 1796 George Washington's Farewell Address is printed across America as an open letter to the public.

“The basic political dualism in the United States—of constitutional and extra-constitutional institutions connected to each other—emerged earlier than most Americans realize. George Washington’s 1796 Farewell Address represents a reaction to that dualism’s embryonic appearance. Upon voluntarily stepping down after two terms as president, Washington urged his fellow Founders and citizens to unite behind making the American experiment work. Washington abhorred the division among those who made and ratified the Constitution of 1787. Fearing that elite factions would ruin the Constitution, he pictured political parties as a serious danger: ‘Let me … warn you in the most solemn manner against the baneful effects of the spirit of party. … It exists under different shapes in all governments, more or less stifled, controlled, or repressed; but, in those of the popular form, it is seen in its greatest rankness, and is truly their worst enemy.’”

Relationship Nostalgia

We often wonder how women who are obviously (from our eyes) in a relationship that does not serve them still choose to remain or even go back to said relationships. Aside from abuse, and the inability to fully cope with one’s reality, I do believe relationship nostalgia can play a sinister role that is actually amplified by marital and couples therapy. While taking some social science courses (specifically couples therapy, relationship therapy, social work, and HDFS) a common theme seems to be present when discussing couples. The idea of remembering the beginning of a relationship. The reality is having couples that are actively experiencing infidelity, violence, or anything else reminisce on the “good ole days” is an unintentional way of having women remain in negative relationship under the guise of returning back to those “good ole days.”

I think as social science educators, counselors, and therapists, our aim should be to help these women come to terms with the reality that their initial interactions with their partners were simply a form of a worm hooking a fish. Once the fish takes the bait and is yanked out of its environment, the baiter no longer has to keep up the facade of safety. This is how we help reduce domestic violence, death, and long term emotional abuse for women. Sometimes I wonder if the social sciences have just been a way to coerce women into maintaining negative relationships.

I will always be a proponent of walking away from anything that doesn’t serve you as a woman. Society is not built to forgive your short comings, find community and sustain that community.
