Polish Vanilla Hazelnut Crescent Cookies, known as Ciasteczka Waniliowe, are delightful, buttery cookies with a hint of vanilla and the nutty richness of hazelnuts. They are a traditional treat often enjoyed during festive occasions or with a cup of tea or coffee.
Ingredients: 200g all-purpose flour. 100g ground hazelnuts. 100g unsalted butter, softened. 50g powdered sugar. 1 tsp vanilla extract. Pinch of salt. Powdered sugar, for dusting.
Instructions: Preheat the oven to 350F 175C and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. In a bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and ground hazelnuts. In a separate larger bowl, cream together the softened butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy. Add the vanilla extract and a pinch of salt to the butter mixture and mix well. Gradually add the flour and hazelnut mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until a dough forms. Take small portions of the dough and roll them into crescent shapes. Place the crescent-shaped cookies on the prepared baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for about 12-15 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden. Remove from the oven and let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes. While the cookies are still warm, dust them with powdered sugar. Once completely cooled, dust them with powdered sugar again before serving.
