They were out looking for espers, time travellers and aliens, of course, their consistent weekend activity. Though naturally, if they weren’t in Haruhi’s group, they wouldn’t bother. Itsuki had apparently wanted to talk with her about something, and Mikuru overheard him order Yuki to put the two of them together. And currently, they were walking to a location more secluded to potential eavesdroppers.
“...Koizumi, you should be nicer to Nagato.” They’re not technically in private yet, but they’re away from the others, therefore this is the most appropriate time to speak on such semi-private matters.
“At least give her a reason before you boss her around. She’s just a girl! And it’s not like it’s classified.” Nobody tells Mikuru anything at all. She doesn’t have nearly enough clearance, she’s not even close to being important enough to know. But in the SOS Brigade, they’re all equals.
When she sees the boys boss Yuki around thoughtlessly, it makes her sad.
“You and Kyon are both so mean!” It’s not intense criticism, of course, only a lightly disapproving tone, complete with a harmless punch on the shoulder. “There’s no reason not to disclose the reasons behind orders to her, she’s going to get lonely again if you keep that up.”
It was of course much easier for the time traveller to process Yuki’s erratic behaviour lately, since she could download her emotions at skin contact, but there’s also another matter which makes it easier: as much as she’s scared of Yuki, she still sees her as another girl, a colleague with emotions.
