Bernadette had an emotional start with Henry, but he was very loved. Raising a baby while not scrambling for money and trying to manage three toddlers at once was apparently much easier than the alternative. Felix and the girls were happy to help where they could.

Soon Bernadette was hosting again. It felt strange for things to be so pleasant. She hardly trusted it.

So she formed a rivalry with Felicity. Something had to be a thorn in her side, even if that thing was soft and warm and seemed fond of her for no good reason.

The new place was an impulse buy. It was a two story with an indoor toilet and three separate bedrooms, one of which Ernest claimed as a private space for himself. Bernadette had never in her life lived in such a nice home, and she couldn't wait to furnish it. By that point they were completely bankrupt, but Ernest kept quiet about it. He wanted her happy. He had a plan anyway.

Feef was growing up to be a very smart boy. He wanted nothing more than to be around his parents; through exposure to their regular conversations, he picked up a very strong vocabulary for his age. By this point, Jack and Minnie had moved him into the old bedroom while they arranged the new master bedroom for themselves.
