Stairway to heaven or hell? Massive new apartment development, still being completed more than three years since being started, with Covid19 uncertainty. Sits on land once occupied by inter-war period light industry, warehousing, workshops and a large industrial timber yard that's all had the wrecking ball put through it. Overlooks Sydney's most polluted waterway, the Cooks River (which thankfully suffered only minor flooding during the recent catastrophic La Niña rain event on the Australian east coast. Tens of thousands of people remain homeless and in dire straits, amid the on-going flood relief effort. Whole towns upcountry will never be rebuilt, after being wiped out.
