I'm pretty sure 3-Inch Karkat migrated to MSParp as Sleeping on Your Muffin!Jake. I kind of miss them too, never really interacted with either of them but that steadfast unwavering devotion to a harmless kink was kind of adorable.

Oh my lord I never encountered 'sleeping on your muffin!jake', I'm sort of sad that I didn't. 

But I'll agree with you there. I always figured that it was sort of affection through familiarity but you might be right there. I think that's a lot of why so many people are endeared to the new Dave

Pollux, my entire family on my mums side up until my grandparents were travelers and gypsies and I know plenty of my relatives still are. I'm just saying they consider Gypsy and Romany to be the politically and historically correct terms for themselves (I've asked before, to avoid insulting them). I'm hoping you were referring to gypsies or I've just made a massive arse of myself for no good reason.

No I was! You were correct. 

I’ve heard several different things on the matter, about it being a slur or not and given that I’m not Roma myself I tend to err on the side of just not saying the word. Because while some may be fine, others can find the language hurtful.

In response to Jace on the headcanon debate, perspective and self-esteem will also play into the battle. I've often seen people with high self value see themselves as taller than other people, but when going up against everybody else, they are actually a few inches shorter and the opposite sometimes happens for people with lower self-esteem. So the perspective argument could still work in the case Jace brought up.

Hmmm, this is actually a really interesting point. I'm going to throw out that if you're going for a perspective sort of thing that maybe you should tell your partner. Just give a little shout out OOC as to your reasoning, or explain that their views on height are purely a self esteem thing in your response.

sorry to like. say this through you but. if you're interacting with someone who also headcanons their character short then saying you're shorter than the other character kinda pigeonholes them too. one time a karkat said they were shorter than my john, and when time came to comparing height headcanons, my john was one inch shorter. (5'2'' amd 5'1'') so i dont think that should be done either.

Ah! that is true! I probably shouldn't have said that could slide. 

I suppose the very best option is to just ask your partner. Honestly I have yet to run into anyone who was unwilling to happily share their body type headcanon for their favorite character. It takes hardly any time, and avoids awkward comparisons that someone might make. 

Remember RPing is a give and take endeavor, and most people are more than willing to work out details, confusion, or future plans OOC and asking about things is nearly always more well received than assuming wrong.

In response to you response, I am a Karkat RPer and I see him as very short and slouched, so calling another character "tall" or "taller" from his perspective (without giving an idea as to how much taller) wouldn't be saying anything about the other character. (And because of his tendency to be melodramatic/to exaggerate, calling them a giant doesn't say much either.)

Okay, thanks for the clarification. That sort of thing is understandable and I'd probably let it pass. I'm usually angered by... I suppose an example would be good. I did a super hero prompt once and had someone pigeonhole my John as being short, thin, white, and (most annoyingly) bullied so that they could play the big strong savior and that is the sort of thing that bugs me. 

I still think it's a good idea to run headcanons by your partner so you know where you're both (proverbially) standing, but there's a certain amount of slack each RPer will allow and I'm pretty sure your case falls within that territory.
