A lot of demigods have lost people and places dear to them, it was nothing new for a lot of the faces you saw during the holidays. Yet, it was hard to get used to losing things.
You missed the time you spent at home. Of course, you loved camp, you loved your friends, but every time the holidays came around you felt homesick to a place you would never return to. The worst part was remembering the specific traditions you used to have with your parent - and knowing that you wouldn’t get to do those this year again. You often go through this period fine, a little high strung sometimes but with your friends, and boyfriends, on your side you would get distracted enough to only get sad when you’re alone.
And it felt wrong to celebrate the holidays without your traditions, it felt weird to bring up your traditions and it was simply hard to communicate what you wanted. Maybe you wanted to be back home, never having known demigod life, or maybe you just wanted a hug and baked a specific recipe you used to make every year, or see your living room decorated specifically like it used to be.
Either way, the holidays come and go every year and it seems that today was simply the day that your brain decided to be sad and homesick. Thus, you figured you would just spend some time wallowing in your misery on your own instead of bringing down the general mood around camp. Maybe a part of your reasoning was that the more happy atmosphere of camp would simply make you sadder and feel worse.
However, your boyfriend seemed to have a different idea. You see, your sour mood around the holidays didn’t go unnoticed by your lovers, as you seemed to close off a little more each day from them. Nico especially wanted to make the holidays a bit special. In the previous years, before he stayed at camp year round, the holidays had always been tinted by grief and sadness. He barely remembered how he used to celebrate when his mother and Bianca were still around, but Will and you had slowly been giving him new hope. Perhaps, with the two of you on his side, he could slowly move on, and one of the steps he wanted to take was to rejuvenate his energy around Christmas. Therefore he had made some plans for the three of you.
“I’m not really in the mood to go out today, Nico.” you looked away from your boyfriend, “I’m sorry,”
“Please?” Nico wasn’t one to beg, but he really wanted to spend time with you, “Will’s already in my cabin.” he offered as he held out his hand to you.
“I don’t want to bring your mood down,” you explained, but you slowly took his hand anyway, unable to tell him no.
“That’s fine,” Nico grinned a little, “If there is anyone who would bring the mood down it would be me and you know it.” Then his face flushed a little, “besides, it wouldn’t be the holidays without my family.”
“Your family?” you asked before, softly, “oh,” Your heart stammered, he had meant you and Will as his family, you looked at him fondly, “I love you, Nico.” You stepped closer before softly sharing a kiss with him.
When you finally entered the Hades cabin you didn’t notice much to be off. Will was laying on Nico’s bed, with his feet still on the floor. You sat next to him, putting your hand on his hair. Will smiled at you.
“Nico got you out of your cabin?” Will asked, grabbing the hand that was on his hair and pressing a kiss to the palm as you hummed.
“He had some rather good arguments,” you elaborated, “like loving me, and loving you.”
“I didn’t take for our sunshine to be a poet,” Will sat up as Nico sat down beside him. They kissed softly, “But your talents are uncountable,” Will finished his sentence as he broke away. Nico had a blush on his face as he stared at his boyfriend.
As you sat there for a moment in silence you realized that for a moment the never ending sadness you had felt the past few days had gone, chased away by simply being near your boyfriends. Perhaps you should note down that your loved ones would make you feel better, as much as loved ones could also make you ache. You shuffled your body closer to Will’s, and felt his warmth against your side.
“So what’s the plan?” You asked, looking at Nico as he came out of his little daze.
“Well, I thought maybe,” he hesitated for a second, the slightest sliver of doubt in his mind, “that we might celebrate the holidays with the three of us. As in, we make our own tradition?” he suggested, and Will nodded slowly.
“My mom and I used to write each other small poems,” Will said, “Or I guess songs, sort of, each year.” Will then smiled softly, “Well, we still do. She sends them in the mail and I use Hermes Express to get mine wherever she is. It’s a small way we communicate. Although, the three of us don’t have to do that, it’s honestly a bit private for me.” Will admitted.
“Did you have any traditions, Nico?” You asked.
Nico shrugged slowly, “I don’t remember a lot, and never really had a celebration since coming to camp.” Then he flushed slightly, “I used to go to McDonalds, and simply get a festive meal.”
“Festive?” Will poked Nico’s side, “What, do they add Christmas lights to it?” Nico shook his head.
“No, but the people there,” he sighed, “I suppose I just sought out the energy, okay?”
“You’re cute,” you told him, leaning over Will to kiss Nico’s cheek. On your way back Will grabbed your cheek and pressed a kiss to it.
“What about you?” Will let your face go. You thought about it for a moment, but it didn’t take long as you had been sitting with these feelings for a while.
“There wasn’t much outside the standard things-” you sighed, “I suppose for us what mattered most was to spend the time together.” after another beat you resumed, “I mean, we always made a dessert together but the recipe changed every year,” you laughed at the memory, “we really should’ve written it down somewhere. I don’t even remember the name.”
Nico perked up a little, “Do you remember the ingredients?” but you shook your head.
“I only remember the taste when the nectar tastes like it,” You leaned on Will’s shoulder, “Which isn’t always.”
“Well, we can just bake a different dessert each year until we find it, starting now.” Will suggested and you rolled your eyes, “That would take ages,” you objected, but Nico ignored you.
“Where will we bake?” Nico asked, “Last time I checked anything that could serve as a kitchen here is a bit off-limits.”
“I’m pretty sure Leo can give us something to work with.” Will said, and you felt the trembles of his voice through his chest.
“What, he’ll let us bake on top of him? He’ll lay still for twenty minutes?” You joked.
“No, we’ll lock him in a small, metal box until the food is cooked,” Nico said and you laughed.
Nonetheless, after you made your way to Bunker Nine it only took Leo half an hour to have a baking station set up, with the condition that he would also get a part of the dessert.
“And kisses?” He puckered his lips, and as you stepped towards him, Nico was faster, pressing a rock he had on hand to Leo’s mouth. Leo backed away, as he grimaced.
“Hey! That’s unhygienic!” he objected, but Nico just smiled widely.
“I dunno, stones are rather tasty if you ask me.” Nico put the rock on the table.
“Yeah, you need minerals in your diet Leo.” Will chimed in from next to you. Leo looked unimpressed as he waved you off.
“I’ll be somewhere on the other side working on Festus, just make sure to call me when your dessert is ready.”
And as you had limited resources - even Leo couldn’t magic all the ingredients from his workshop, and the Stolls only had a small stash of possibilities (that you could afford) - the dessert you made was rather simple. But that didn’t matter, even though for sure it was not what you used to make, it was special. Not perfect, and it still hurt, but keeping your traditions, carrying them over to your new life, it was special. And you knew you would keep doing it - keep carrying that which you got taught by previous family and friends, all because you loved them and they loved you. You’ll unconsciously carry them with you, their deeds and only when you miss them will you notice the print they left on you. But for now, keeping traditions from nostalgic times was all you needed to remember that even if there are people you no longer can meet, they will always stay with you.
Hi! I saw your post and was wondering if you could do a poly-solangelo x daughter of tantanos reader who is like super powerful, kinda like Nico but they can control shadows and maybe have wings like her father. They can also talk to ravens and sense when someone is about to die. Sorry if it's to specific lol 😆. Feel free to change it if your more comfortable with it. Stay healthy and safe, love. Thank you 🤟❤️
Oh I'm sorry but I'm currently not taking requests/not writing for PJO+HOO right now :< this is such a cool request though I hope some other great writer out there picks it up!!

The low flicker of the campfire put everyone in an orange light. For a bit you had actually managed to sing some songs with the few campers still at camp, but the energy was a little low.
“It’s always kind of weird when people leave after winter break, huh,” Austin remarked while he was still softly strumming his guitar.
“Yeah, the quiet comes back too quickly.” Will said from beside you. He was holding a sleepy Nico close to him on his other side, while softly playing with your fingers too, “At least the infirmary will be empty again,”
“Oh no, we might get bored,” Kayla joked softly, “Hey, Rachel, weren't you going back today too?” Rachel nodded her head, after which she shook it again. She sighed.
“I wanted to, but I feel like I am forgetting something. There is something I need to do before I can leave camp and it is eating at me.” Rachel stared into the flames before groaning loudly. “I hate this.”
“Well, dear child, I do not remember any tasks given to you.” Chiron spoke as he walked closer to the campfire, “Perhaps a belated prophecy as our Oracle?” he suggested. Rachel perked up. Her eyes widened as green smoke started to come from her mouth.
(Y/n) will return alone, after collecting the stone, and repairing a parents shrine, Only then, all shall be fine.
Will’s grip on your hand suddenly got tight, as Nico sat up from his position, clearly distressed. The green smoke faded and Chiron quickly caught Rachel as she fell down.
“(Y/n),” Chiron addressed you as he made sure Rachel was sat safely, “it is most unusual that you have been directly addressed by name. This most likely is a quest from your godly parent, do you accept this quest?” You could feel the eyes of your boyfriends on you, their worried gazes burning into your head. You knew they would not want you to go, but it was your parent, who chose you to do this.
“I do.” you said, and you heard protests from your boyfriends.
“I will-” Nico started, “I mean we will go with (Y/n).” the son of Hades looked at Chiron, who shook his head slowly.
“I fear that that is not possible, my child.” Chiron stated calmly, “As the prophecy demands (Y/n) to go alone.” Chiron turned to you, “It probably is best if we go over possible details at this moment, so you can leave in the morning if you wish.”
You started to stand up, and so did your boyfriends.
“Will, Nico, I-” you purse your lips.
“I want to know the details-” Will started but you shook your head.
“How about you go to my cabin while I discuss this with Chiron?” You grabbed both a hand of Nico and one of Will, “That way will probably be quicker, and I will tell you the details afterwards, okay?” Reluctantly your boyfriends nodded their heads, as they watched you walk off.
───────────
“I don’t care what the prophecy says!” Will grumbled as you were packing your bags, “What about the rule of three!”
“That contradicts ‘will return alone’ Will, we’ve been over this.” you sighed, a slight tremble in your voice, “I don’t want to go without you, but I will not” you glared at your boyfriend, “needlessly endanger the loves of my life by ignoring the prophecy.” you waved your hand, “besides, it’s like Chiron said, just a small thing to do for my godly parent and then I will be back! Nothing to worry about.” You heard Will sigh from behind you as you went over your belongings one more time.
“I don’t like it.” Nico stated, “I want to protect you, you shouldn’t have to go in alone.” You turned around to see your boyfriends sitting together on an empty bunk bed. You walked forward and motioned them to scootch apart, worming yourself between them. You softly grabbed both their hands, squeezing them softly. Nico leaned his head on your shoulder.
“It’s not like we have much of a choice. It’s either going alone, or most definitely get you two mortally wounded, if not outright killed.”
“But what if you get hurt?” Will whispered, “What if I am not there to help you?”
“You will be, after all,” you looked at Will, meeting his eyes, “You taught me how to do first aid, don’t tell me you’re doubting your skills as a mentor?” Will grimaced as his gaze softened.
“We will still be worried about you, love.” Will slowly moved towards you and gave you a careful kiss, “and we’ll miss you.”
“I will miss you both.” you sighed, “I think that might be the worst part.” You felt Nico snuggle into your neck, “Just promise me you’ll wait at camp for me?”
“I guess,” Nico mumbled, “But if I catch any wind of you being in danger I don’t think Will would stop me.” Will nodded his head in agreement.
“Nico!” you paused, “Gods I love you both Will, please make sure Nico won’t do anything stupid,” Will hummed in agreement, as Nico protested with a weak ‘Hey!’
“Oh and Nico, please make sure Will doesn’t do anything either-” Now it was time for Will to feign hurt.
“Why is he not allowed to do anything stupid, and I am not allowed to do anything?” Will put a hand over his heart.
“Love, I think you’ll be too busy looking after Nico.” you shrugged, “and the last time we let you do stuff you somehow came back with six cats to take care of so,”
Will sighed as he went back to leaning on you, “I am going to miss you,” he pressed a kiss on your shoulder.
“I’ll miss you too, but if all goes according to plan I will be back in a fortnight!” you promised your boyfriends.
───────────
The next day you were off, leaving behind two worried boyfriends. With a positive attitude, and your sword on your side, you were sure this would all be a piece of cake. However, the first obstacle was already in your way after only a few hours of traveling.
You sighed as you checked the map. The first part of the quest was to find the right material to repair the shrine, and sadly the Home Depot you went to was all out of it, so the first ‘easy’ part was getting harder with the second. What should you do, rent an Uber to bring you to the next closest Home Depot (you did not have that much money on you), ask the Gray Sisters to do it instead (that would be a near death experience) or try stealing some from a museum? The last one might not be the smartest, but then why would there be a museum right next to the Home Depot?
On your way you went.
───────────
The sun was setting and it had been a few days since you left. Nico and Will sat together as they looked out over the strawberry fields, definitely not in case you were going to suddenly show up from outside the border.
“I miss them.” Nico sighed, “But they will be okay, right?”
“I hope so,” Will leaned his head on Nico’s shoulder, “What do you think they ate for dinner?” Will felt Nico sink down a little.
“I don’t know, what if they didn’t have any?” Nico tensed a little, “What if they are stuck in a hole right now, desperately trying to get out?” Will huffed.
“Do you think they drank enough water?” Will asked and Nico made a non committal noise, and Will sensed his worry, “What if they found a new kind of demigod and became ambassador for their godly parent there without telling us?”
“What do you-” Nico gasped, “Hey! It would have been dangerous to introduce Camp Half-Blood to Camp Jupiter at the time!” Nico protested, roughly sitting up. Will swiftly followed his movement. Nico glared at Will, “I am seriously worried about them, okay?”
“I know, Nico, my sunshine,” Will smiled, “But what if they get accused of kidnapping their parent and become a wanted criminal throughout the entire states?” Nico’s glare faltered.
“I think it’s more likely that they lose their memory,” Nico hesitated, “to get raised by wolves for a bit, before they arrive at Camp Jupiter. At least then we will find them again.” Will softly cupped Nico’s cheek with his hand
“They will come back to us,” Will kissed Nico, “We just need to trust them.”
───────────
Nico paled when he realized where you were. He had heard the story of Em’s emporium from Percy and Annabeth. Why were you here?
“Stupid cyclops with it’s stupid hands and fucking-” you walked into frame. Nico tried to move closer, but he noticed he was stuck. Stuck as a statue. “Take a breath (Y/n),” you looked around, “Improvise, adapt, overcome. There must be statues around here somewhere, it won’t be as fancy but it will be enough.”
You walked up to Nico, staring directly into his eyes.
“This one should do.” You brazed yourself, and pushed him to the ground.
Nico woke up in a cold sweat, shaking. Why were you in his dreams- his nightmares? You seemed to be alright, but he knew this was not part of the discussed plan- you were in danger- what if-
Nico started to sit up, only to feel his hand press into another body.
“Ouch-,” Will groaned as Nico recoiled, “Love?” Nico rested his back against the wall, counting the timing of his breaths- in for four, hold for five and out- in, hold out.
“Nico?” Will entered his vision, “Nightmare?” Nico nodded, reminding himself that you were alright even if you were in his dreams. Will positioned himself next to Nico, not touching him, but he could feel the bed shift. Will recounted a few times where Nico had nightmares, and he fell into a routine the three of you had set up.
“Do you want to talk, or for me to try to guess what it is?” Will asked and Nico nodded, “Talk?” Nico shook his head.
“About down there?” Will asked, Nico signaled ‘no’, “Your past?” Nico shook his head again, “I don’t know uhm,” Will felt Nico nudge his hand, and he carefully grabbed it, “Can you help me out, love?” Nico licked his lips.
“(Y/n),” his breath hitched. Will squeezed his hand as he tensed.
“Are they alright?” he whispered, and Nico softly nodded, “But you’re scared because they’re in your dreams?” and Nico nodded again, leaning against Will now. Will engulfed his boyfriend in his arms. Will softly rubbed Nico’s back.
“It’s okay to be scared,” Will whispered, “I am too,” and Will realized he could no longer promise Nico that you would be alright. He just hoped you would be.
───────────
After the last nightmare, the nights became restless. If the planning would have been right, you should have been back two days ago but you were not. Nico was scared that the next time he would dream it would be about your dead body, and he continuously attempted to sense your soul. You were getting further away, but you were not dead.
Yet.
He hadn’t had a new dream about you, and Will got permission form Chiron to stay over most nights. Together they talked, but whenever the topic turned to you the conversation quickly quieted, both of the boys in their own worlds of worry. At some point, Will had put on your favorite movie, putting out the snacks you normally ate. But, the gummy worms went untouched, and as Nico hugged Beanjamin close -his weighted goose plushie - he slowly dozed off.
Will was worried. He noticed the growing bags under Nico’s eyes, but how could he help? Austin nowadays reassured him multiple times a day that you would be back any moment now, but would you? Will didn’t blame his boyfriend for having a nightmare about you, however Nico and nightmares were never a good sign. What if it just meant you were gone?
As Will leaned closer, he could already hear Nico whimper from another nightmare.
Oh no.
Nico turned around, suddenly face to face with his lover. You looked beaten, but not injured. Dirt stains covered your clothes and face, and Nico tried to reach out to you, only to phase right through you.
“Why the fuck is this tunnel not ending yet!” You huffed, before sitting down on the floor and leaning against the wall, “This will be easy they said,” you mumbled, holding in a sob, “easy my fucking ass”
Nico stepped forward, “(Y/n), please” You closed your eyes in defeat. “keep going for me-” he begged you before the dream faded away.
Will hated how deep Nico could sleep when he was having nightmares. Every time it felt like the dreams would suck Nico in, only letting him go when he had seen everything.
“Nico please-” Will called out just as Nico shot up, hitting his head against Will’s head.
“Fuck!” both boys exclaimed.
“Sorry,” Will said after a moment, “I should not have been hovering above you, I guess.”
“What are you sorry for?” Nico sighed, “It’s not like you could’ve known.” They both sat in silence, not looking at one another.
“I heard you say their name,” Will hesitated, “Are they alright?” Nico swallowed harshly.
“They didn’t look injured-” Nico clenched his fists.
“But?” Will prompted.
“Something must be wrong.” Nico sighed, “They were crying, something about a tunnel- I don’t-” Nico looked Will in the eye, “I think we should go.”
“Okay, but we need to discuss it with Chiron, tomorrow.” Will said.
“But!” Nico shook his head, “I guess you are right, fuck.”
“I know, I am sorry.”
───────────
The conversation with Chiron did not go well. Nico was seething, standing at the border of camp as Will held him tightly.
“They are hurt Will! I can’t just sit here and wait for them to die!”
“I promised them I wouldn’t let you do anything stupid!” Will tightened his grip, “I promised, Nico.”
“But what about protecting them?” Nico was no longer yelling, “What about loving them?” Will tensed and he wished to fucking scream at Nico. Instead, he decided to be the bigger person and he took a deep breath.
“I love them and I love you.” a pause, “and I cannot stand that you are making me choose.” Will felt his shirt slowly get damp. He hated it when Nico cried, but it was better than when he was angry. Will closed his eyes as he felt Nico’s arm sneak around his waist.
“I can’t lose them,” Nico mumbled, “I can’t lose you but-” he gasped for air, “I’m sorry, I’m terrified.” Will held his boyfriend in silence, pressing his lips to the top of Nico’s head, as he slowly let his own tears flow. The wind blew around them, leaves rustling as they both tried to calm down. Slowly their breaths synchronized.
And suddenly another pair of arms engulfed the two of them.
“What-” Will quickly pushed the third person away, as Nico stepped back.
“Geez guys, I know that I haven’t showered yet but this is excessive-”
“It’s you,” Nico’s voice quivered.
“It’s me,” You smiled painfully, “I need to go to the infirmary-” you clutched your side, and before you could even move Will and Nico were at your side, holding you up, “Sorry I took so long.”
“I love you, and would love to talk,” Will grimaced, “But my priority is healing you, my love.”
“Thank you.”
───────────
Much to Will’s chagrin, Austin stood on taking care of your wounds as he was on shift. He had tried to object, but Austin was right that perhaps he was not in the most emotionally stable state to professionally assess the injuries you had sustained. So, Nico and him were just standing outside of the infirmary until you were properly patched up. Next to him, Nico had his eyes closed, and if Will didn’t know better he would think Nico was relaxing. However, Will did know better, and the creasing of Nico’s eyebrows worried him.
“How are they doing?” Will asked. Nico’s eyes sprung open, as he was surprised by the voice of his boyfriend. Nico had been concentrating on the feeling of your soul, which seemed too far away but so close. He had fully forgotten that Will was there with him, waiting on you too.
“Their souls wavers sometimes,” Nico let out a breath, “Which is normal for injured people, I guess.” Will nodded in response. He had to remind himself that Austin had as much skill as he had, and that you were not in any mortal danger when you arrived. You had to be fine, you would be fine.
These thoughts did not stop Will’s heart from stopping when Austin walked out, looking a little dejected.
“How’s-” Will started.
“They kept correcting me on what I was doing,” Austin laughed, “A bit embarrassing for me, but they are alright.”
“Thanks, can we go in?” Nico asked, ignoring Austin’s comment. Austin stepped aside, and Will and Nico made their way inside the infirmary.
As your boyfriends approached you, they saw the awful state you were in. Nico went to stand on the right side of the infirmary bed you were in, and Will on the left.Neither of your boyfriends dared to step closer, as you were barely sitting upright. Instead they each grabbed a chair and sat down within reach of you, wordlessly.
“Did you get any ambrosia yet? Nectar?” Will slowly moved closer as his stomach churned at the sight of your weakened state. You tried to shake your head, but quickly stopped as you closed your eyes in pain.
“I am at my limit already, didn’t really have time to properly heal up on my way here.” your voice came out rough, but steady, “How are you two holding up? Missed me?” Nico’s gaze went from your face to your hand. It was wrapped in a bandage, much like the rest of your upper arm.
“We were worried about you, my love.” Nico heard Will speak as he softly grabbed the blanket instead of your hand. He didn’t want to accidentally hurt you, and your form seemed so bruised and broken. His ears still picked up Will, who was retelling all that happened since you were gone, but his brain did not process it. Instead, he feared that just being here was already weakening you. He knew his presence wouldn’t hurt but- but what if the essence of death brought you closer? What if he made his nightmares come true?
“... has been having dreams about you. That’s why we were at the border.” At the mention of his name, Nico looked up, releasing the deathgrip he had on the blanket.
“Oh?” you looked at the son of Hades, “all good dreams I hope?” Nico’s head stopped any thought it had when he looked into your eyes. Your shining, alive, eyes and your handsome face.
“That doesn’t matter,” Nico muttered as he sat more upright, a feeling of ease coming over him, “Now that you’re back, it doesn’t matter.” Nico was never going to let you go alone again, as he promised himself to keep protecting you no matter what.
Will looked at his boyfriend, as he smiled. The past few weeks had been rough on them, even worse on you, but the three of you were finally together. You still looked tired, but less so after your talk. Will knew that he would need to wait until you were better and as Austin walked back into the infirmary he stood up.
“I think we should let (Y/n) rest, Nico.” he wanted to hold you in his arms until you fell asleep, but you needed uninterrupted sleep for now. Nico nodded as he too stood up. Tomorrow he would hold you, if you were better. He will wait until you are healed.
“Sleep well. Love you.” Will said as he waited for Nico to be at his side.
“Love you, (Y/n). See you later.” Nico had a ghost of a smile on his face.
You carefully laid down, before saying a final ‘I love you’ to your boyfriends, as you could finally relax.
But just before your boyfriends went away there was one more promise to be made to them.
“I’ll see you tomorrow?” Will knew that he and Nico would wait forever for them, if they needed it to heal. He didn’t know when this journey would end, but he would walk besides you and Nico, hand in hand. Nico knew he couldn’t promise you a kind road, or a fair sky, but he knew that he would protect you and besides you in any way he can.
This chapter has been ready for so long to be posted i don't remember what I wrote! Just a heads up that comments/reactions do actually give me a will to write and given that I could be wanting, somehow, to write up till TSAT I really need that

After you had helped Nico finally convince Percy to go take a dip in the river Styx, you returned to camp. It wasn’t your place to accompany Nico and Percy on this quest, you would be either in the way or in danger and as camp was already running low on resources you were needed. You only hoped you would see them again. You had wanted to ask Nico to stay, but you knew he wouldn’t, not yet at least. Unbeknownst to you, Nico had wanted you to go on this quest with him, he knew he longed for some companionship especially besides Percy. For some reason, even in the fleeting moments he saw you, he always felt more at peace. Maybe, in this rigid world, you could be an anchor for him, a home.
Unbeknownst to you, Nico had wanted you to go on this quest with him, he knew he longed for some companionship besides Percy, as being next to Percy made him nervous. Besides this, there was still a risk involved and Nico knew that Percy did not trust him entirely. He didn’t blame the son of Poseidon, but somewhere along the way he had started considering you a friendly face, and that is something he did not see a lot of.
But Nico did not dare to even consider asking you to join, he only brought hurt to those around him. He did not deserve to have you next to him. Instead, he urged you to stay at camp, the camp that betrayed him but could be a shield for you. Some protection that he knew he could not offer you if you were next to him.
As you made your way out of the forest, you felt restless. Sure, you did your part, you helped Nico and reinforced your bond with him, but still. He was to go on this quest practically alone, he is just a boy, and he should not have to deal with all of this. No one should. But how do you offer help to those convinced that they don’t deserve it? You really hoped that he would be alright- and Percy too. It was unfair how the world seemed to treat the children of the big three, but what can they do except try to survive the horrors thrown their way. As these thoughts plagued you, you made your way back to the infirmary, figuring that you should make yourself useful again.
“How did it go?” Will asked as you approached him in the infirmary.
“Percy agreed, I really hope Nico is right about this.” You sighed and Will.
“Do you not trust him?” Will quirked his eyebrow.
“I think I do, but the plan is just dangerous and if something goes wrong-” you sighed, “everything is just so tense.”
“It’ll be fine,” Will tried to reassure you. He knew he couldn’t promise much, not after he lost his brother, Lee Fletcher, a few months ago. There were currently many responsibilities on his shoulders, and you felt for him. It wasn’t much, but you did want to help- even if it simply meant not making him worried about you.
Preparing while waiting for Percy to come back wasn’t easy. You had no doubts in Nico- you knew he would not betray anyone like that, or at least you opted to believe that. You started helping the Apollo campers prep healers kits- one for anyone who wasn’t half bad with the kit, plus extras just in case. You got a weapon from the weapon shed and made sure it was easily accessible. Yet, as the preparations started coming to an end, and everyone stood ready to leave camp and go to war. Except for the Ares cabin. Clarisse had decided to not even show her face outside of the cabin, and everyone was nervous about them not joining. Yet, that was forgotten as Percy reappeared in camp. You weren’t there when he arrived, however it didn’t take long before you passed by the son of Poseidon.
Percy’s gaze towards you made you stop in your tracks. Was there something wrong? He gestured to you to follow him, and as you looked around and saw no one else, you walked his way.
“Did you know?” Percy asked as soon as there was no one around. You had never felt intimidated by the son of Poseidon, but as his stormy eyes focused on you, you wished to run away from him. Unconsciously you stepped back, without answering his question, so Percy spat out the next one. “Are you the traitor?” Percy felt angry, Nico’s betrayal in the underworld had not left his mind, and he wanted to focus on more important matters now but he couldn’t.
“Traitor?” you got out, and you shook your head, “Is Nico okay?” you asked Percy. Something must have happened while Percy got the curse of Achilles, and you hoped your friend was alright.
“Nico is fine.” Percy bluntly said, “(Y/n), were you aware of Hades’ plan to capture me?” Your eyes widened at Percy’s words.
“No, I didn’t know-”
something, camp matters, something, Silena intervenes.
“Percy, that’s enough.” a voice spoke up, and you quickly saw Silena Beauregarde standing there, but Percy did not pay her any mind, his eyes still on you, “Percy, it is no use trying to figure out who the traitor is. If it’s (Y/n), they won’t tell, and if it’s not they won’t convince you, right?” Percy huffed, but his stance relaxed a little as he took a step back, listening to Silena. “When we’re out there- I need you to stay safe.” Will grasped your shoulder, “I know we’re not from the same cabin, but please try your best to not get injured.”
“I promise,” you grabbed Will’s hand off your shoulder, let it down and hugged him, “Promise me you will be safe too?” You slowly let him go and he nodded. Will hoped that his heart beat would calm soon - certainly it was because he was anxious about the fight - and he stepped away.
“Let’s go.” he pressed a first aid’s kit into your hands, as you joined the other campers to head out.
So it took a while, but at some point I realised I wanted to finish writing at least arc one before posting the rest so oops.

You both re-entered the clearing, followed closely by an overly excited Mrs. O’Leary.
"No problem, I've got worse enemies than overweight satyrs." You overheard Percy saying. Nico was the first of you two to speak up, letting your presence be known to the demigod and tree nymph.
"Good job, Percy. Judging from the trail of goat pellets, I'd say you shook him up pretty well." You could see clearly that Percy was nervous as he tried to smile. You were aware that Nico had made it pretty clear to Percy what his plan was, and if you were in this kid’s shoes you would have been nervous too. Luckily, you were just an idiot tagging along in the plan.
"Welcome back. Did you come by just to see Juniper? And who is your friend?" Nico blushed and you wondered whether it was about the friend thing, or about Juniper.
"This is (Y/n), and um, no. That was an accident. I kind of . . . dropped into the middle of their conversation." Blushing out of embarrassment then, you inwardly cheered. He also did not deny the friend comment you happily noted.
"He scared us to death!" Juniper said. "Right out of the shadows. But, Nico, you are the son of Hades and all. Are you sure you haven't heard anything about Grover?" Nico shifted his weight. Ah, she must have been crying worried over her lover. You had caught some of the stories around camp, however you did not know any of these people personally, so you tended to mind your own business.
"Juniper, like I tried to tell you . . . even if Grover died, he would reincarnate into something else in nature. I can't sense things like that, only mortal souls." "But if you do hear anything?" she pleaded, putting her hand on his arm. "Anything at all?" Nico's cheeks got even brighter red. "Uh, you bet. I'll keep my ears open."
"We'll find him, Juniper," Percy promised. "Grover's alive, I'm sure. There must be a simple reason why he hasn't contacted us." She nodded glumly. "I hate not being able to leave the forest. He could be anywhere, and I'm stuck here waiting. Oh, if that silly goat has gotten himself hurt—" Mrs. O'Leary bounded back over and took an interest in Juniper's dress. Juniper yelped. "Oh, no you don't! I know about dogs and trees. I'm gone!" She went poof into green mist. You gaped at her disappearance, never having gotten close to a tree nymph before.
Mrs. O'Leary looked disappointed, but she lumbered off to find another target, leaving Nico, Percy and me alone. Nico tapped his sword on the ground. A tiny mound of animal bones erupted from the dirt. They knit themselves together into a skeletal field mouse and scampered off. You were impressed by his control, but truly you felt as if this shouldn’t have come as a surprise.
"I was sorry to hear about Beckendorf." Nico said and you downcast your gaze, having heard the news quiet recently. This was one of the first people from camp that you knew who died, and the news had taken a toll on camp.
"How did you—" Percy started, and you were reminded that he was there with Beckendorf on the ship.
"I talked to his ghost." So the rumours about Nico’s powers were true – he could actually converse with the dead.
"Oh . . . right."
"Did he say anything?"
"He doesn't blame you. He figured you'd be beating yourself up, and he said you shouldn't." "Is he going to try for rebirth?" Nico shook his head.
"He's staying in Elysium. Said he's waiting for someone. Not sure what he meant, but he seems okay with death." You weren’t sure how to feel about these developments, but before you could give it much thought Percy started talking again.
"I had a vision you were on Mount Tarn," he told Nico. "Was that—"
"Real," Nico said. "I didn't mean to be spying on the Titans, but I was in the neighbourhood." "Doing what?"
Nico tugged at his sword belt. "Following a lead on . . . you know, my family." Percy nodded. You side eyed your friend, wanting the ask for an elaboration. However, you had felt him close the moment Percy started asking questions to him. You had heard a whisper about a sister, but there was nothing you could go off from. Nico was a mystery to you and you wished you could unravel it.
"So how did it go?" Percy asked. "Any luck?"
"No," he murmured. "But I may have a new lead soon."
"What's the lead?"
Nico chewed his lip. "That's not important right now. You know why I'm here." You saw Percy’s face fall. You knew Nico wanted you to help convince Percy, but you had barely exchanged a word with the son of Poseidon before. What were you supposed to do? Tell him you would safe him from being stabbed?
"Nico, I don't know," Percy said. "It seems pretty extreme."
"You've got Typhon coming in, what . . . a week? Most of the other Titans are unleashed now and on Kronos's side. Maybe it's time to think extreme." Nico looked towards you as to urge you to help him. You stepped forward.
“If I may, Percy, “ you looked the son of Poseidon in the eye, surprised by the distrust in them, “I’ve been at camp since April – if Nico hadn’t brought me here I would have been dead and I know that even with how hard I – we – camp has been working,” you heard sounds of fighting in the distance, “I fear we are hardly a match for the Titan army.” Nico nodded in agreement.
“This comes down to you and Luke. And there's only one way you can beat Luke We can give you the same power," Nico urged. "You heard the Great Prophecy. Unless you want to have your soul reaped by a cursed blade . . ." You hadn’t heard the prophecy fully yourself – around camp it was deemed a kind off taboo to mention or talk about.
“You can't prevent a prophecy," Percy said.
"But you can fight it." Nico had a strange, hungry light m his eyes. "You can become invincible."
"Maybe we should wait. Try to fight without—"
"No!" Nico snarled. "It has to be now!" You were startled at his outburst – but you did agree with him.
"Urn, you sure you're okay?" Percy asked and you threw him a wary look.
“Percy, look,” you started as you noticed Nico taking a deep breath, “It will be significantly harder, maybe even impossible to take this journey when the fighting starts. Maybe even too late- if you want to prevent any more losses, deaths on our side you must go now.”
“I'm sorry if I'm being too pushy,” Nico’s gaze was strict towards Percy, “but two years ago my sister gave her life to protect you. I want you to honour that. Do whatever it takes to stay alive and defeat Kronos”
"All right," Percy decided. "What do we do first?"
Took me a while to figure out what I wanted to do here but I did it, after a long while.

A part of you wished that you only came to camp after this war. You were not prepared for the mental image of all your friends being hurt and the only way to escape this was to focus solely on the jobs you had. Your patients blurred together and you did everything in your capacity of helping. The world was no longer in direct risk, however that never brought you any calm.
Percy had taken the lead- but Manhattan was big, and the amount of people at camp was small. Especially since the Ares cabin had refused to join the fight. You wished you knew what was happening, but you simply didn’t. You were still unclaimed- so you got appointed to go with the Hermes cabin, and with your healer kit on your back and an unpracticed sword hand at the ready you ventured out there. Firstly to take a stand, but mostly to find those hurt around Manhattan and get them to the Empire State building. Somehow you were in the zone- you ignored your feelings as you worked, removing any thoughts related to the consequences of what was happening- ignoring the blood staining your hands.
Until the Manhattan bridge exploded. It was where the Apollo cabin had been situated, and for the first time you thought about your friends, how you cared for these demigods, how death was final. For the first time your heart dropped to your stomach, as you prayed to Apollo that his children were fine- that Will was fine.
The hours dragged on and you caught no sight of any Apollo camper. You never entered the Empire State Building, leaving whoever was hurt in the hands of those stationed there. You were tired, you wanted a break but a break meant laying down and crying. You never wanted to be here and stopping meant facing the possibilities that people were dead.
At some point someone told you the Ares cabin had joined the fight- you saw a glimpse of Will, but didn’t get further than a touch to the shoulder before you had to focus on another wounded, everything was fucked. Then, in another breath you heard from Travis the whisper that Silena had died- that she might’ve been the traitor. But maybe you misheard, and what did it matter. She died, for camp, for you and your friends. What did anything matter in this war?
The first breather you got was when Kronos showed his face. It was weird seeing Luke, a boy barely college age, leading an army. The horror that was the reality of his face and body carrying the titan Kronos was one you wouldn’t face. You were breathing heavily, clutching your kit close to you. At some point you had lost your sword, but a dagger was tugged into your belt. You couldn’t make out what the conversation was about- at some point you got caught near an explosion and although the ringing had stopped, the sound still sounded a bit muffled.
But that didn’t matter- you stood at the ready, for either an attack or to drag someone out of the fight and keep them alive. You stood ready, as you noticed the enemy forces behind Kronos stir, as they parted uncomfortable as if forced to. You weren’t sure how to act, so you simply stood still as a loud bark sounded, and you saw Mrs. O’Leary ran towards Percy, ignoring the monsters around, and just a moment later you saw him.
Nico, wearing a skull-shaped helmet. You slowly started making your way towards the front- if Nico was there you wanted to be near him in the fight- help him if he needed it. It wasn’t a rational thought, but you considered Nico your friend and that was reason enough. As you got closer you felt the ground rumble, and saw cracks appear underneath your feet. You jumped back as skeletal hands clawed their way out of the ground. The sky turned cold and you swore it got darker as a war horn sounded, and as the skeletons formed ranks.
An enormous chariot raced down Fifth Avenue, pulled by horses that resembled living shadows. The chariot was inlaid with obsidian and gold, depicting scenes of death. You could not believe your eyes as you realised that the person holding the reins was the Lord of the Dead, Hades and that behind him were Demeter and Persephone. You couldn’t help but smile as you realised that Nico had managed to convince his father to help the fight- that finally it was no longer Camp Half-Blood versus Kronos and his army, but that the gods were on your side.
Hades wore black armour and a cloak the colour of fresh blood. On top of his pale head was the helm of darkness: a crown that radiated pure terror. As you watched the crown changed shapes- monsters to bones to flames. Yet you looked away, fearing that if you got too close to the crown it might take your worst nightmares and change into the shape of those. Unlike the previous conversation, Hades’s voice reached far, and as you slowly inched closer- only stopped by the skeleton ranks- you could finally hear what was being said.
"Hello, Father. You're looking . . . young." The Lord of the Dead spoke.
"Hades," Kronos growled. "I hope you and the ladies have come to pledge your allegiance."
"I'm afraid not." Hades sighed. "My son here convinced me that perhaps I should prioritise my list of enemies. As much as I dislike certain upstart demigods, it would not do
for Olympus to fall. I would miss bickering with my siblings. And if there is one thing we agree on—it is that you were a TERRIBLE father."
Hades drew his sword, a double-edged Stygian blade etched with silver. "Now fight me! For today the House of Hades will be called the saviours of Olympus."
"I don't have time for this," Kronos snarled. Kronos struck the ground with his scythe. A crack spread in both directions, circling the Empire State Building. A wall of force shimmered along the fissure line, and you noticed that outside the barrier, car engines revved to life. Pedestrians woke up and stared uncomprehendingly at the monsters and zombies all around them. You saw that Nico took a turn towards the mortals and quickly followed, finally meeting up with him.
“Good to see you here!” You greeted Nico, spotting no injury on him, and therefore moving to his side so you would have his back while you made your way forward together. Nico didn’t say anything in return, but he glanced over quickly and you saw that he was smiling. Whether it was from seeing you or the general adrenalin you weren’t sure- but you did know that somehow the smile fit him, he deserved to be elated.
Suddenly a gun sounded, Nico’s sword was bigger than your dagger as he pushed you behind him and thrusted it out, right into the giant monster that was pushed your way. As it dissolved you saw a woman and man - both way too old to be from camp, and as Percy ran your way it became clear that the woman was his mother.
"When did you learn to fire a shotgun?" Percy demanded of his mother. The woman blew the hair out of her face. "About two seconds ago. Percy, we'll be fine. Go!" she urged him, and from next of you Nico agreed.
"Yes,we'll handle the army. You have to get Kronos!"
"Come on, Seaweed Brain!" Annabeth yelled from behind Percy, and he nodded as he looked at a pile of rubble . Before leaving Percy instructed Mrs. O’Leary to dig Chiron out. And then the hero ran off with his friends, to make the last stand in the war.
This serves as a set up as to why you train with Nico every morning. I don't make the rules, I only make the SFU. A comment on the request; I took the vibes, but I left out being claimed. It was slightly confusing phrased but I tried my best!
Happy birthday Nico!

It was not often that people criticize your strength. During the years you had spent at Camp Half-Blood you had probably spend most of your time in the infirmary, given that the Apollo cabin tended to be short-staffed when wars happened. This meant that you did not show your fighting power as much as other campers did, but it was fine. You were content with your little place in camp, no need to show off anything.
You weren’t going to lie though, the predicament you found yourself in right now was not optimal. Sherman Yang, son of Ares, had decided to target you during sword practice, and if the immense amount of taunting wasn’t enough to piss you off, it was the fact that you were losing badly. You knew your way around with the sword, it just was not your best weapon and Sherman was a murder machine with any weapon he held. All you could do was dodge and parry his hits, helplessly trying not to die in the process. However, Sherman made quick work of you as he slashed your arm and pushed you to the ground in the process. You looked up at him, scared of the sword that you could not dodge coming your way, only for it to be quickly parried by a black sword.
“That’s enough, Yang,” Nico spat as he held back the son of Ares. Sherman just smiled menacingly, locking eyes with you once again. Nico had seen the fight happening as soon as he entered the arena, and as he saw you in trouble, he felt an unfamiliar anger bubble in his chest.
“I’ll kill you next week then, (Y/n),” Sherman removed his sword from Nico’s, “Just to make you see how pathetic you truly are,” he laughed as he walked away. Nico wanted to hit the son of Ares; however, he knew what Sherman’s strength was from watching the training and he did not want to try his chances. When you finally looked away from Sherman, you noticed Nico holding out his hand. Grateful for the help, you grabbed it and stood up, quickly letting go again. Nico looked at his hand, secretly missing your touch, before he looked you over. He glared at the blood on your arm, a need to protect you flashing in his heart.
“You should get that checked out,” he gestured to your wound, which you had forgotten about momentarily.
“Uh, yeah, thanks- for the help I mean,” you smiled weakly at Nico, who seemed like he wanted to say something. You looked at him expectantly, and he just shook his head.
“If you need help, just ask me. I’ll be there.” He quickly muttered, as he briskly walked away. You looked at his disappearing form, as you were reminded about the early days of your relationship. He was the reason you got to camp, and you always wished you could have helped him more, or at least properly befriended him after the first great war. These thoughts kept playing in your mind, as the stinging in your arm beckoned you to make your way to the infirmary.
───────────
As Will patched you up, you explained what had happened.
“I just don’t know why Sherman is targeting me right now?” you complained. Will looked up, before he sighed.
“He just targets who he wants, (Y/n).” Will checked your wounds once more, to make sure it would heal well before he handed you some ambrosia. You quickly ate the medicine, and your arm was as good as new.
“How am I going to survive?” Will smiled at your dramatics.
“I am sure you will be fine,” he stated but you looked at him worried.
“He only picks me during sword practice, Will,” you sighed, “I suck at sword fighting, and getting my ass beat every time is not teaching me anything except how to apply first aid to my wounds.” Will laughed, when suddenly his eyes lit up with an idea.
“Why don’t you ask Nico to train you? He is pretty good with his sword.” Unbeknownst to you, Nico had confided in Will how he didn’t know how to approach you. Will found it endearing how his boyfriend seemed to become shy whenever you were involved.
“You think he would want to?” You asked Will, not wanting to bother Nico too much with your request. Will nodded eagerly.
“He cares about you, a lot,” Will got a thoughtful look on his face, “I am fairly sure that he considers you his first friend from camp, he just doesn’t know how to be … friendly.” As Will said this he grimaced a little, “So you need to be a little patient and most importantly, don’t give him the chance to push you away.”
You nodded in understanding.
───────────
Will insisted on accompanying you to Nico. Something about beating his boyfriend up if he tried to deny your request. But that seemed unnecessary because right after Nico and Will greeted each other with a kiss, Nico turned to you.
“Could I teach you how to sword fight?” Nico’s posture seemed rigid, and he squeezed Will’s hand for reassurance. Will looked at his boyfriend endearingly and surprised as he squeezed back, “It’s so you don’t have to rely on Sherman for practice and perhaps you can even beat him next time.” Nico quickly clarified while you were too stunned to speak. After a beat you finally got out of your stupor.
“Please!” You grinned nervously, “That is why I am here actually, if you’re willing, please teach me,” Nico blinked slowly before he seemed to relax a bit. He turned to Will.
“Are they alright to train now?” Nico asked his boyfriend, who gasped.
“Are you doubting my doctor skills?” Will put a hand on his heart and Nico rolled his eyes. You looked at the interaction, as you felt your heartbeat strongly. As Will mumbled ‘of course’ to Nico before pressing a kiss on his cheek a sudden surge of longing took over your body. You quickly averted your eyes, cursing yourself for wanting a love life so bad that seeing this private moment made you feel this way. Well, that is if Nico even considered you a friend.
After Will went back to his shift at the infirmary, Nico carefully told you to grab a sword and charge at him. But before you could even move, he told you to stop.
“You need to fix your stance first,” Nico started posing more elaborately to show you how to pose, but after you uncertainly tried to copy his form, he sighed. Slowly, he walked up to you as he put his sword back in its sheath. His hands moved towards you, but he paused suddenly.
“Is it alright if I touch you?” Nico asked, looking you in the eye. You couldn’t make out what he was thinking, his face as stoic as ever.
“Yes,” you nodded quickly, “Otherwise I might never learn, right?”
Nico moved carefully forward; his touch almost ghostlike in correcting you. If Nico was surer of himself, he would have grabbed your arm, but he didn’t know whether you would move away from his touch. He did not want to make you uncomfortable, for Nico knew that his touch often was rumoured to bring death. Nico did not know that you wouldn’t have minded his touch.
From here on, Nico continued to guide you through certain moves, often stopping mid swing to carefully tell you how to parry. He pointed out some weak points and promised to work on them with you. He was careful, and after a bit you moved on to some more free sparring together.
“That was good!” Nico complimented you as you sighed.
“Good? But you won!” you breathed heavily, your arms sore from the sparring, but unhurt in any other way.
“Sure, but you did manage to parry both hits without limiting your mobility.” It might have been your tiredness, but Nico seemed proud, “And your footwork is way better than it was when we started. You’re doing great, (Y/n).” Nico’s compliments made you feel warm inside, and you simply smiled.
“It’s all because of you, you know.” You straightened up, “Maybe we can take a break? My arms are mush.” Nico agreed quickly, still feeling elated from spending time with you. Nico didn’t know why, but simply sparring with you somehow gave him energy. You both walked to the side of the arena and sat down. After a few minutes of silence, Nico spoke up.
“Look, if you want to beat Sherman next week you should try to sweep his leg.” Nico took a sip of water.
“That’s not a thing in sword fighting, is it?” You asked and Nico shrugged.
“All is fair in a fight, and although Shermans foot work is good, it might be the only thing that is penetrable without too much extra training.”
The dinner bell rang loudly, and only now did you notice you spend almost the entire afternoon together with Nico.
“Ah! I guess this is it for today uh,” You looked at the boy sitting next to you, “Can we train more tomorrow? Perhaps in the morning so Sherman won’t be there?”
Nico nodded in response, before he stood up.
“We could just train together every morning?” he extended his hand out to you, which you grabbed, “It never hurt any demigod to be prepared for a fight after all.” Nico smiled.
───────────
That evening at the campfire Will noticed that his boyfriend seemed more fidgety than normal.
“How did the training go?” Will asked and Nico tensed up. Will carefully looked at his boyfriend, wondering what happened between you and Nico for him to feel so on edge.
“I have something to confess,” Nico started, and Will squeezed his hand. Nico hesitated, feeling guilt in his stomach. He should have thought this through, or first talked it over with Will or-
“What? Did you catch feelings for (Y/n) already?” Will asked teasingly, “Because if so, we can figure something out. They are cool.” Will looked back at his boyfriend, but as he saw Nico blankly stare at him, clearly panicked, Will apologized.
“I’m sorry, this was not the time for jokes. All in your own time, my sun,” Will smiled patiently and Nico’s heart stuttered. Nico wasn’t sure whether it was his brain catching up to what Will was insinuating, or the love he held for his boyfriend, but a warmth overtook his body.
“I invited (Y/n) to train every morning but it would mean less opportunity to spend time together for us.” Nico said, looking to the side.
“And?” Will grinned, “You are spending time with a friend, I am proud of you Nico.” Nico at that moment let his guards down and smiled lovingly at his boyfriend.
“You are? But what about our time together-” Will pulled Nico into a hug, entangling his fingers in his boyfriend’s hair.
“I always am proud of you,” Will whispered, “And I love you, and if push comes to shove, we can figure something out. But I don’t mind you spending time with (Y/n), I am glad you finally got the chance to.” And, unadmitted, Will could feel his happiness soar at the thought of Nico and you together, or even spending time with the three of you together. Will recognized that perhaps it wasn’t just Nico making friends that made his heart swell, perhaps it was you specifically that made him feel this way. And maybe, the blush that took over Nico’s face after Will’s remark about you meant that he agreed. But that could wait for later, for now he was holding his boyfriend close, and loving him for all that his is.
───────────
A week passed too quickly for your liking. Although you had practiced a lot with Nico, all your confidence disappeared as soon as Sherman glared at you. You had hoped he would wait at least until the scheduled sword practice, but he seemed eager to beat you up.
“You really thought that practicing with death boy could help you?” Sherman glared at Nico, “After this you’ll see you have much more to learn from me than him (Y/n).”
You see, Sherman Yang might come over as solely a bully, but he did not mean it that way. He had noticed that you seemed okay with a sword but could use a better training regimen than hacking at a dummy during practice. Besides this, you also never seemed excited to train sword fighting. So, who better to train and inspire you than him? However, Sherman had not realized that perhaps charging at you heads on was not a way for you to learn how to fight properly, even if it resulted in you actively practicing with the son of Hades in the past week.
Yes, Sherman had kept an eye out on your progress and now was time to test it.
Anyways, Nico tried to ignore Shermans comment as he stood to the side of the fight, ready to intervene if necessary. However, you seemed to hold your own well against the Ares camper. Instead of only dodging and parrying Sherman’s attacks, you managed to almost hit him once or twice before you quickly put your leg behind his and made him tumble to the ground. Seizing the opportunity, you jumped on top of him and put your sword against his neck.
“That was not a sword fighting move, (Y/n).” Sherman spat as he glared at you.
“But I won.” You breathed heavily and Sherman pushed you off him, using his body force to keep you down for a few seconds before standing up and brushing off the dirt from his clothes.
“This time you can have the victory.” Sherman grinned, an anger glint in his eyes, “But you are not cleared from fighting me.” Sherman grabbed his sword from the ground and walked away.
You sat up, looking for Nico. However, he seemed to have disappeared.
───────────
Nico didn’t know why, but he felt disappointed that you won. He realized as soon as the fight was over that he couldn’t congratulate you without ruining your day. Nico had realized that he only promised to train you until you won from Sherman, and yet he wished he hadn’t just promised that. What if this was it? What if you won’t seek him out afterwards? Nico had not yet realized how much he longed to spend more time with you.
Nico had not realized how attached he could get to your presence.
As soon as Will saw his boyfriend enter the infirmary, he felt slightly panicked. Nico didn’t like coming here, something about the possibility of bringing death into the place, and yet here he was seemingly uninjured.
“Are you alright?” Will kept Nico at a distance as he scanned his body for any invisible injuries, but besides Nico’s slightly paler than normal face nothing seemed wrong.
“Is (Y/n) alright? How did the fight go?” Nico looked up with panic and pain in his eyes. Will quickly let go to grab a first aid kit, his adrenaline building as he thought about possible injuries you could have but stopped when Nico grabbed his arm.
“They won,” Nico’s voice sounded small, “And I am upset about it.” Will turned around to face his boyfriend, concern in his eyes.
“Can I hug you?” Will carefully asked and Nico nodded. As Will softly engulfed his boyfriend in his arms, “Why do you think you’re upset?” Will felt Nico let out a sigh as Nico put his arms around him.
“I wanted to spend more time with them,” Nico’s voice cracked a little, “But now that they beat Sherman I can’t.”
“You know that that’s not true.” Will tightened his hold on his boyfriend, “You can keep training together, or just hang out.”
“But what if (Y/n) doesn’t want to?” Nico’s voice was quiet.
“I think they do want to, I bet they will show up for your training tomorrow as they did in the last week even.”
Nico broke away a little from the hug, seeing a soft smile on Will’s face.
“And what if they don’t?” Nico asked.
“Then you need to ask them,” Will cupped Nico’s cheek, “Or I can help. It’ll work out, I promise.” Nico breathed out deeply and kissed Will slowly, hoping to convey his gratefulness.
───────────
The very next day you were unsure whether Nico would be waiting for your practice session. After all, he had only promised to help you beat Sherman and technically you have done that now. Plus, you still had no idea where he went yesterday after you won your fight. However, as you were making your way into the arena you saw Nico leaning against the wall, looking slightly anxious.
“You’re here.” Nico’s shoulders relaxed as he saw you approach, “I thought that maybe you wouldn’t want to practice together anymore.”
“I thought you wouldn’t want to teach me,” you looked sideways, “After all you only promised to help be fight Sherman,” Nico shook his head as he felt his heart stutter. Were you just here to thank him and leave? “But I have to admit,” you continued, “You are a great teacher and I could use some sword skills and-“ you hesitated, “Perhaps we can spend some time doing other things, if we are friends and you’re comfortable and” Nico realized he found it cute when you were nervous for him.
“I would love to spend more time with you and,” the tips of Nico’s lips turned up, “we are friends,” although the skeletal butterflies in Nico’s stomach wanted him to recognize that perhaps he wanted more. But that he would have to discuss with his boyfriend first.

A sigh escaped your lips when you noticed that your wristwatch was probably broken. You guessed it was the battery, however it had been holding up so well after Nico helped you fix it last time it stopped working. Hence, why you were looking for your boyfriend to help you. Admittedly, you were also looking for both of them as you hadn’t seen them properly in about a week and you missed them. You spotted your significant others holding hands and seemingly in their own world, as your heart clenched with longing to be between them again. As you looked at the wristwatch in your hands, you noticed they had been shaking and you took a deep breath - hoping to not have an emotional breakdown from yearning for some affection.
You approached your lovers slowly, and as you got there they barely seemed to pay you any mind.
“Hey!” you smiled, and after a second both your boyfriends looked at you, smiling back.
“Hey! What’s up?” Will asked and you noticed your eyes drifting down towards their hands. Priorities, (Y/n), hand holding is fun but you are on a mission.
“Eh, could you guys maybe help me for a second? I think my wristwatch is broken and-” Will sucked some air through his teeth, you already felt the let down coming.
“Sorry, Nico and I were just going to go to the lake.” Nico nodded along, but he noticed your dejected face.
“You can join us though, if you want?” he shrugged, “I can help you fix it tomorrow?” for some reason you suddenly felt tired, as the disappointment took place in your mind. Your brain was still on the mission of fixing the wristwatch- and although you badly wanted to spend time with your boyfriends you shook your head.
“Uh, I will just ask Leo or something for help,” you tried to genuinely smile, but you felt it was forced for yourself, “Have fun at the lake!” you turned around, heading towards the Hephaestus cabin.
As you left, your boyfriends watched your disappearing form.
“Do you think they’re alright? They looked pretty sad.” Will asked, squeezing his boyfriend's hand. Nico quickly glanced at Will.
“They did really like that wristwatch, even if it keeps breaking,” Nico’s eyes fell to the ground for a second, “might be why they’re sad?” he offered and Will nodded, both unaware of your inner turmoil.
───────────
You had found Leo, after asking his siblings, in Bunker Nine. You could’ve asked any Hephaestus kid for help, but you wanted to talk to a friend right about now, still feeling dejected by the rejection of your boyfriends. Leo had shot you one look after you asked to fix your wristwatch, after which he took it from your hands, put it down beside him, and looked back into your eyes.
“Now tell me what else is wrong?” Leo rarely got serious, but he had sensed you were sad and this was his top priority now. You shook your head and looked away, unable to lie to your friend while looking him in the eye.
“Nothing, Leo.” Leo tilted his head as he cupped your cheek to make you look him in the eye.
“Try again, (Y/n).” You couldn’t deny him as you looked in his eyes and your body sagged.
“I miss my boyfriends,” you felt the emotions flow in as you voiced your thoughts, “I miss them, and I asked them for help because I just want to spend some time with them but every time in the past week I have just been denied- or too busy or they were busy and-” You took a deep breath, trying to suppress your tears, “and it makes me think that maybe I should try something else. I know they love me, but if they don’t have time for me or- or don’t need me as I need them?” You focused your gaze back onto Leo, who seemed to be thinking, “I’m sorry,” you whispered, unmoving. Leo quickly shook his head.
“Don’t be sorry, these are all valid feelings, and honestly,” Leo let go of your face as he sat up, “I think your boyfriends should get a taste of their own medicine.” Leo saw the doubt in your eyes and smiled at you reassuringly, “Let me take care of you, this once, okay (Y/n)?”
And thus Leo’s plan was born- he had decided that instead of letting you focus on your lovers, Leo would distract you every minute of the day until you felt better and no longer needed to depend on your boyfriends for affection. This did not go unnoticed by said boyfriends- because it included Leo whipping you away every time you started a conversation with them. This part of the plan Leo hadn’t told you, but he wanted to make your boyfriends pay for getting you this upset. Your boyfriends however did not like this new development, but as the week progressed there was little they could do except rant towards one another. They decided though, that at the coming movie night at the Big House they would steal you away, and not let go of you for a week.
───────────
You were excited for the movie night. In the past week Leo had made sure that you were distracted and cheered up after missing your boyfriends for so long. He also taught you how to fix your wristwatch, and you were happy it was working again. You had just sat down in your circle of friends, as Leo immediately climbed on top of you.
“Leo, what the actual fuck,” you asked your friend nicely as he shrugged and leaned against you, forcing you to put your full weight against the cushions behind you.
“I was just feeling like cuddles.” he stated and he shifted his weight, getting comfortable on your lap, “and you own me, for yesterday.”
You sighed as you put your arms around his waist, making yourself more comfortable holding him.
“And the payment has to be now?” you asked the Latino sitting on your lap.
“No, but it’s also payback to your boyfriends.” you could hear the smile in his voice, “because you were not happy that they left you to fix your wristwatch by yourself.”
“Am I not the one who should make them pay though?” you asked and Leo laughed.
“Oh you are making them pay.”
As you continued the conversation you were holding with Leo, him leaning more and more into you as you talked, you didn’t really notice your boyfriends walking in. They had wanted to spend some time close to you, for real this time, and as their gazes fell on your position - or rather, Leo’s position on top of you, they quickly glanced at each other. “Are you seeing this?” Will exclaimed not so loudly at Nico, as Nico tightened his grip on Will’s hand. Nico was not used to this feeling- but he felt a gnarly anger inside him, and as Will saw Nico’s angry expression he panicked. Will quickly grabbed his lover’s face and pressed a kiss on his lips, leaving Nico bewildered and angry, but at least no longer in danger of summoning skeletons.
“Nico, my sunshine,” Will looked at his boyfriend's lips, and then at his eyes, “I need you to calm down a little.” Nico took a deep breath, but his heart wouldn’t stop beating and as your laughter mixed with Leo’s rang through the room he felt an angry chill go up his spine. What was Leo doing on your lap? Why can’t Nico remember your smile now? Why, why, why-
“Nico!” Will loudly scolded him, which silenced the room. You slightly pushed Leo out of the way to see your boyfriends, but as you did so you felt a restraint on your ankles, and as you looked at them you saw skeletal hands wrapped around them. You gasped as you loosened yourself, quickly removing Leo from your lap and standing up. As you came closer Nico looked at you, scared, as he turned away and walked out. You reached Will before he could follow and tried to grab his hand, only for him to move it away and glare at you.
“What happened?” you asked, seeking for an answer in your lover’s eyes. But they only held anger as you shrunk under his gaze.
“Don’t bother.” Will snarled, as he felt angry at himself for letting Nico get like this - angry at you for being the cause of this. You stepped back at the heat of his glare, before trying to step past him, but Will stopped you.
“I just want to help-” you try to move, but Will pushes you back, making you stumble.
“You have done enough, (Y/n). I don’t think Nico needs you right now.” Will turns around and walks away as you feel your heart shatter. Feeling the tension in the room behind you, you slightly turn to face them, looking to the ground.
“I, uh-” you feel yourself choke a little as your heart beats harder, “I’m just going to bed, sorry.”

Will sighed as he woke up, his sleepy bless almost immediately interrupted by the reminder of last night. He pressed a kiss on the top of Nico’s head, as he stroked his boyfriend's hair. He felt a gnawing feeling when he thought back at the night before, seeing your downstruck face in front of him before he walked away. He had just been so angry at everything- but he hated that he left it at that. Unconsciously he tightened his grip on his boyfriend, awakening the son of Hades.
“Will…?” he heard his boyfriend mumble softly, and as he let go he was faced with a sleepy face.
“Hey sunshine, how are you feeling?” Will asked, softly smiling as he stroked Nico’s hair. Nico grunted in response, nuzzling his face into Will’s shoulder.
“Where’s (Y/n)?” Nico whispered as he pressed his face further into Will, “Didn’t they follow us?” Will stilled his movements as he closed his eyes.
“I,” he hesitated, but he knew that he had to face the music today anyways, “I told them to leave us alone,” Will pressed himself closer to Nico, a feeling of guilt settling in his stomach.
“Angry too, huh.” Nico sighed, feeling his heart clench at the thought of you being gone, “We should talk it out.” he whispered and he felt Will nod.
They arrived at the dining pavilion holding hands, and as they looked around for you, Leo approached them. The latino was nervous, but he knew that he had to clarify - or make things right for your sake. Sure, Leo was aware that he had been pushing your boyfriends to try to get them to spend more time with you, but this backfired harshly and he felt guilty about being the reason for tension in your relationship.
Nico turned and glared at him, and Leo rather wanted to run than to move forward, but he took a deep breath as he stepped closer.
“What do you want, Valdez?” Nico had to remind himself to breathe, and that he was there to make it up to you not to kill Leo for being too close with you.
“I want to,” Leo gulped, “... apologize for yesterday.” he paused and his shoulders sagged, “and the past week? I think… I can explain.” Will notioned for him to go on, still hoping to catch a glimpse of you in the pavilion.
“Okay so, it started when you guys wouldn’t help (Y/n) fix their wristwatch.” after Leo saw recognition pass over their faces he continued, “they mentioned feeling a bit left out? and upset because they hadn’t gotten proper time with either of you in a bit and I, uh,” Leo wringed his hands as he looked downwards, “I took it upon myself to try to cheer them up,” he looked up again, carefully meeting the gazes of your boyfriends, “and to try to keep them from you so you wouldn’t take their time for granted so much?” He quickly finished his sentence. As he was met with silence, Leo felt that he needed to explain more, a nervous stutter in his chest as he scrambled for words.
“It’s just- you guys can be angry, okay, however your anger should be towards me not (Y/n), because they had nothing to do with this. However, you also need to realize that you have not been great boyfriends towards them- because I don’t know what you did but they were positively upset about it. And as (Y/n)’s friend it is my responsibility to make sure they get treated right. I was not letting you guys go on without getting paid back while I was cheering (Y/n) up.” Leo looked at both Nico and Will as they exchanged a glance.
Will sighed, “We have fucked up- but we want to talk it out with (Y/n),” Will looked around the dining pavilion once more, “Do you have any clue where they are?” he hopefully looked at Leo, who seemed to be searching for something on their faces.
“Are you still angry?” Leo carefully asked and both Nico and Will shook their heads, “Alright, come with me, I guess.”

When Leo woke you up this morning in bunker nine, he only had to look you in the eyes to know that you would not get breakfast right now. He could see the traces of last night’s tears, and as he made up his mind to fix this, you just turned to face the wall again. This was great, you only wanted to spend time with your boyfriends and now they will probably break up with you, just great. You felt tears swell up again as you thought about how to never see them at camp again after you were over.
You had not been aware of how much time had passed, nor did you really care. Leo was probably back from breakfast, and the worst case scenario you could come up with was him trying to feed you something now. You were sure with all the sorrow in your chest, you would not be able to swallow a singular bite.
“(Y/n)?” as you heard Nico’s voice you realized that there was an even worse scenario than Leo forcing you to have breakfast. Your eyes widened, as you curled more into yourself. Why were they here? You weren’t ready for this to end yet, “Leo let us in, could you please look at us?” Nico whispered and as much as you did not want to face them, you could not deny your boyfriend his request. As you sat up your body ached from laying on a couch for the whole night.
Nico’s eyes widened when you turned around, as he saw how badly you were doing. He wouldn’t be surprised if you had not slept at all last night. He quietly moved to sit next to you, carefully grabbing your hand. You didn’t move away from his grip, but you refused to look up from the floor. Will mirrored Nico’s movements on the other side of you.
“Where’s Leo?” your voice came out more softly than you had wanted it to, but you didn’t have the energy to care.
“He has gone back to have breakfast, to give us some time alone,” Will said as he squeezed your hand, “We need to talk, I think.” you felt your throat close at those words, but you still nodded. Silence engulfed the three of you, either person afraid to break the fragile calmness that was surrounding you.
“Yesterday,” Nico’s voice cut through the silence, “I was jealous of you being so close with Leo.” The statement sounded cold, but you noticed the care Nico took choosing every word, “It was not only from yesterday though, I hadn’t seen you for too long and-” his breath shuddered, as he looked at you. You only looked forward, unwilling to look at either of your lovers, “and I missed you, I thought of losing you and I am sorry for losing my cool.” his eyes searched the profile of your face, finding nothing but the remnants of pain from yesterday.
You took a deep breath, and slowly opened your mouth, feeling as if you had not had a drink in days.
“I had not seen you two for weeks properly and I missed you two a lot, and then-” old emotions bubbled up as you hiccupped, “I asked for help because I needed to spend time with you but you two are always together and sometimes it just feels like you don’t even miss me when I am not around and-” you removed your hands from theirs as you curled into yourself, “and if you guys don’t-” you didn’t want to say it, you didn’t “if you guys don’t, just tell me- I-” a hiccup disrupted your sentence as you felt a pair of hands on your back, and you were engulfed in a hug from both sides. Will slowly moved to press your head towards his chest.
“We do miss you- a lot, but when we’re together we always talk about having you there, so we don’t notice it,” Will whispered, “because when we are together, we imagine you with us and-” Will closed his eyes, “I am sorry, so sorry about yesterday- about pushing you- Nico was hurting and it got me angry, but not at you I promise.” he pressed a kiss on your head, as Nico laid his head on your shoulder, “I promise that I love you and I cannot see the world without you there, with us. I will never hurt you again, I will try at least. Can you forgive me?” Your breath shook as you smiled a little through your tears and nodded carefully.
As you slowly broke the hug, you noticed that both of your lovers had also been crying.
“We’re a mess, huh,” you whispered and Will laughed silently. Nico just cupped your face, and pressed a kiss on your forehead, after which he pressed a kiss on Will’s hand.
“We really should communicate more,” Will said, as he rubbed his thumb over Nico’s hand, “A relationship with two people is already hard enough, but we are with three so,” you licked your lips as you nodded in agreement. You held up your hand, with its pinkie out.
“Let’s promise that from now on- instead of bottling things up we will try to communicate?” Nico smiled as he interlocked his pinkie with yours. Will joined in and as you shook pinkies a pact was born.
