Afternoon library heat
Sun slanting through the tall windows, dust motes dancing like tiny confetti
Shelves towering around us like a fortress of paper and ink
Cramming into the same worn armchair with Gwen, book balanced on overlapping knees
Our sides flush from hip to shoulder, breath hitching every time our shoulders bump
Ye-jun sitting at the long wooden table, headphones on, lost in thesis
Hair spilling over my shoulder, strands lost in my shirt
Her fingers tremble a little when I brush them to turn the page
Ye-jun glances once, fond smirk, goes back to typing
She exhales slow, shaky, settles heavier against me
I don't move, don't want to
Just sit here drowning in her scent
