Karl Branting Headcanons

(most of which have some sort of relevance to the roleplay blog I run for him and zero evidence in canon,,, okay? okay)

Character Info Headcanons

- Senior, completing his final year of highschool, seventeen at the youngest.

- Prior to being a prefect, he was one of the Preps (I also headcanon that Edward was as well) and resided in Harrington House along with the others. Whilst he doesn't exactly have a choice when it comes to being friendly with them (as he and all the other Preps are encouraged to befriend each other for business/social reasons), he and the likes of Bif, Bryce and Parker (along with the other Preps to a lesser degree) are actually quite good friends.

- Youngest of three sons. Has always been well aware from a young age that he has zero chance of being his fathers heir. His brothers also attended Bullworth academy, and similarly were both chosen to be prefects. The difference between him and his brothers is that they where head prefects, which in his eyes decreases the potential/usage his father has for him even further.

-- Adores fashion and Aquaberry like the rest of the preps do, and is probably considered to be quite stylish. Actually argued over the fact he was expected to wear tan slacks and simply refused, wearing Aquaberry's navy pair (which are no longer available, limited edition, and presumably ridiculously expensive). Similarly he's probably the one who irons all of the prefects uniforms, because he believes standing beside wrinkled uniforms makes him look worse and that just can't be allowed.

-- Openly gay. Like literally zero denial or attempts to hide it on his end, nor is he burdened by internalised homophobia or shame. Has never really explicitly came out but after hearing him drop a "well, he certainly is nowhere near as charming as his appearance" comment a dozen times, most got the idea. His family is aware to an extent, and this is probably the one reason he's grateful to be the third son. Definitely tenses up when arranged/political marriages are brought up, immediately shutting the topic down with a "I have until college to worry about that".

Funner/Sillier/Ship Headcanons

- Has 100% been scolded for not paying attention to his position because he was too busy gossiping with the likes of Christy. WLW & MLM solidarity right there. Those two definitely have lunch together at least once a week.

- HIGHHH matinence. Similar to Pinky in the sense that you better not be late to a date with him, because this man will put you to work for his forgiveness. Probably had a streak of shitty boyfriends that had all his friends with their heads in their hands.

- (Karl x Non Prefects Headcanon) Probably complains about all his boyfriends/dates to the other prefects, who all nod along with zero enthusiasm the same way they do with all his gossipy nonsense. Although I think it'd be sweet if they instantly offer to accompany him to break up with whatever shitty guy that needs dumped.

- (Karl x Edward Headcanon) Karl had his first kiss with Edward, despite their complicated friendship. He had a date with a boy he really liked and didn't want to seem inexperienced or dorky, and Edward being Edward offered to "share his expertise". They don't talk about it. Or at least, Karl doesn't let Edward tell anyone about it. But it's certainly in the back of both of their minds. Sort of frienemies to lovers dynamic.

- (Karl x Max Headcanon) Karl probably had the dorkiest sort of hallway crush on Max before the pair ever became prefects, probably forced a couple of the other preps to attend each and every single one of his games. It didn't really go anywhere considering they had no reason to ever interact except from a few classes here and their together, and Karl was absolutely scunderred when he found out he'd be dorming with the guy. Max taking on the responsibility of a prefect whilst also staying in physical shape (and acting as a stand in coach occasionally) probably made him all the more attractive in Karl's eyes.

- (Karl x Seth Headcanon) Classic "head of clique x second in command" ship we see in every other clique. I like to imagine Karl was probably really irritated at first that Seth recieved the title of head, considering his families track record, and he wasn't exactly performing to his roles standards in protest of this decision in the first few months. Very awesome enemies to lovers potential if you squint guys!

polyam prefects except they think that they’re being so slick at hiding their relationship from the student body when they’re really, really not. sure you can bet that they never go out of their way to be affectionate in the slightest unless absolutely sure nobodies around, but there’s bound to of been some amount of slip ups here and there. little acts of sweetness and softness towards each other that they’d never give any other student, leaning in too close to whisper details that don’t need to be whispered, the accidental swapping of personal items and attire like their blazers—

and the only reason they’re mostly oblivious to the student-bodies awareness of their romance is the fact that nobody is up for the consequences that’d come with teasing them.

thinking about the prefects having to put aside previous clique differences in order to work alongside each other, sure it isn’t like they all had explicit rivalries and hated each other, but lumping together preps, a jock and a bully (my personal headcanoned cliques for them) certainly couldn’t of been smooth sailing at first.

and the added tension of having them all suddenly shoved into shared accommodation with one another in the standard boys dorm? rough roads guys, there surely had to be some disagreements.

I hope this doesn't sound stupid but how do you think the halloween party was and which one of them enjoyed more( also i am loving polyam prefects).

Of course it doesn’t sound stupid, I’m so glad to hear polyam prefects is spreading I literally adore them so much! (These are gonna be wrote with polyam prefects in mind rather than just being general headcanons, these are set prior to any official/established relationships but tension between them all is certainly present.)

I think the party would’ve been held in your average Bullworth Town residence, basically what would be considered lower-middle class housing in the Bully universe. Type of home that would have a Prep sneering and a Greaser/Townie calling you moneybags. Since the Prefects are the only known attendants, I’d say it was strictly seniors only.

Seth would certainly be insanely moody the first portion of the night, and you can bet Edward and Max had probably dragged him there. “I don’t want to be here.” “Parties aren’t my thing.” “Why’d you even make me come.” are probably the only words out of his mouth until the alcohol hits his system. Leaning against the wall feigning nonchalance and suddenly he’s all smirks and speech unlike how he acts in his sober state. I’d say he’d probably be uncomfortable being left by himself and would consistently be with at least one of the other prefects the entire night, and would outright deny any accusations of being clingy. Immediately shuts down anyone flirting with his “associates”, claiming they need to be responsible and represent the school well. I’d say he ended up enjoying it but didn’t find attending it worth the terror caused by Jimmy and Gary whilst he was off duty.

Karl was one-hundred precent convinced the party was going to be trashy due to its location, and would’ve much preferred to attend whatever functions where being thrown at Harrington House or in Old Bullworth Vale. FOMO convinced him to tag along, as being the only prefect not in attendance would surely be much more embarrassing, and besides, other Bullworth seniors would be there. Parties are full of gossip. “Be grateful I’m even here.” “Be a dear and fetch me another drink, I’ll need it to survive this.” “This is so tacky. Everyone’s so underdressed!” Similarly I’m sure he stops caring after a couple of drinks, and he strikes me as the type to talk to anyone and everyone. Type of guy you’d bump into in the bar bathroom and walk out basically engaged to. He probably handed out a lot of glares and strained “do you actually think you can compete with me” smiles to anyone who approached the other prefects. In the end, he probably had a decent time, maybe one too many drinks to of actually remembered most of it.

Max is probably most used to these types of parties, considering the amount that the football team would’ve thrown in celebration of victories. Major frat bro energy, and whilst I certainly think he’d be the type to be held upside down whilst downing a keg — I think it’d be really sweet if he was irrationally worried about police crashing the party. “Gotta keep a clean record.” “Here, I’ll hold that for you.” “You’ve had enough. Yeah, I’ve been counting.” Therefore Max was the token sober friend that night, presumably keeping an extremely close eye on his comrades and those daring to approach them. Officially in charge of keeping the other three steady, on their feet and in his sight. Probably assisted with a little amount of cleanup, and you can bet there was quite a few compliments about his muscles thrown around (shut down by his entourage). Enjoyed it as much as the designated driver can enjoy while putting up with dozens of drunk people.

Edward absolutely attended with the sole purpose and goal of leaving with as many numbers as possible, but was equally satisfied with the jealousy he managed to stir instead. “Shes a looker, isn’t she?” “Hold on, pause. Let me put some proper music on.” “What’re you, my boyfriend?” Probably the only one of them that can tell that whatever situationship him and his fellow prefects have isn’t one platonic in the slightest. Type of guy who doesn’t need to drink to have a good time, but he still certainly had his fair share. Unlike his fellow Prep companion he isn’t put off by the hosts “poverty” in the slightest. Out of all the prefects he probably enjoyed it the most simply due to the fact he’s the most open minded of the group.
