Holy shit what a perfect addition!
Its been added to the list of polyam songs🎵 (and I marked it down as explicitly polyam and sad)

Do you know of any polyam love songs that are not bad rep? If you do thank you so much!
(bad rep = bad representation, which here I assume means one portraying polyamory as something inherently negative while also being unrealistic and/or omitting the part about informed consent)
Sadly, the only one I know is "In the middle" by dodie, which is polyam-ish:
"I like you, and I loved him
We could all be the best kind of friends
You said you're into closure
Shake hands like you're supposed to
I'll be in the middle
While you two get along"
I would love to learn about more! Let's collect them under this post!
Comments = A very polyamorous song but through the viewpoint of family, especially the children. A common criticism of polyamory involves asking about the children which this song addresses having multiple parents as a very good thing even if outsiders don’t understand it. Again the folk music genre of the song might not appeal to all but it is otherwise a very catchy song.

We all live in a big old house Eight adults, six kids and one pet mouse Two dogs, three cats and a parakeet We got a great big garden and we never eat meat My room's upstairs and down the hall It's the one with the crayons all over the wall Three other kids share the room with me We're just one big crazy family And I've got five moms and three dads It may sound strange, but it ain't so bad When you get tired of one, you can go find another It's a whole lot better than one dad and mother It's not as confusing as it might be At least I know which mom and dad had me But some of the adults wonder if it's okay To go on raising their kids this way I keep saying everything's just fine 'Cause mostly we have a pretty good time It's hard to explain just what you missed If you've never had a home like this And I've got five moms and three dads It may sound strange, but it ain't so bad When you get tired of one, you can go find another It's a whole lot better than one dad and mother I suppose some day when I'm all grown up They'll take a survey to see if I'm screwed up Asking all of us hippie kids What we think of what our parents did I'll have to ask which parents they mean I've got a whole lot more than most kids I've seen And if we haven't solved all the problems yet At least we've come up with a whole new set And I've got five moms and three dads It may sound strange, but it ain't so bad When you get tired of one, you can go find another It's a whole lot better than one dad and mother So come on by and visit us We're the house with the black VW bus There's a swing out front and a beat up car And a beer sign from some western bar Sunday is our potluck night Whatever you can bring, it'll be alright There'll be games and songs and food and jokes I'll introduce you to all my folks And I've got five moms and three dads It may sound strange, but it ain't so bad When you get tired of one, you can go find another It's a whole lot better than one dad and mother
I don't think I saw this one on the poly playlist so I'm sorry if I missed it, but might I recommend "So In Love With Two" by Mikaila?
Hello beautiful and THANK YOU BOTH for these amazing recommendations!!🤩
They've both been added to the poly song list 🎼🎧
I really like the mood in both of these, So in Love with Two opened with such an intense sting I didn't really know what I was getting into, lol. Very fun! 😁 and of course, that indecsion (anguish) was very very strongly felt by me personally before I came around to polyamory so it hits home
And, to the few people who talked about liking being third wheels in my other recent post, that Leftovers song is the one for you. Great timing from my anonymous friend here
I was going through your playlist (can’t wait to listen) and I would like to suggest a few songs:
Move to the country by Gaia consort
don’t ever call your sweetheart by his name by Christine Lavin
I do both jay and Jane by la rissa
Bonnie and Clyde by vermillion lies (love this one)
These have all been added! And I think you may take the title🏅 for most successful song suggestions at once, if you care about such things
Thanks so much for all these wonderful suggestions!🎵
I had been advised before that Gaia Consort has more poly songs than the one I already had listed, but I wasn't willing to listen to their entire discography to find them. So as a bonus for me, that's one thing off my mind!
Comments = This is the most straightforward and focused polyamory song ever. It focuses a lot on comparisons of other things we love to illustrate how we can love more than 1 person. There are not too many other emotions or themes past these comparisons which for some might get dull. Also the style of music might not appeal to all. But overall a very good polyamory song that anybody could pull up to help explain polyamory to someone.
---Lyrics---
I heard a woman talking And to me what she said just made sense She was lamenting the state of affairs How some people can be so dense She said she had three wonderful children Two girls and their little brother And nobody gave her problems for loving Each child as much as the other But they say you are bad Or perhaps you are mad Or at least you should stay undercover Your mind must be bare If you would dare To think you can love more than one lover I really dig the redwood forests But the desert makes me want to sing And those little Irish villages When the churchbells ring I like to busk in Boston And hang out in the cafes in Berlin Yes, I like lots of different places And nobody tells me it's a sin But they say you are bad Or perhaps you are mad Or at least you should stay undercover Your mind must be bare If you would dare To think you can love more than one lover I like Italian espresso But I also like French wine And now and then that BC bud Leaves me feeling oh so fine I like to get a buzz sometimes I like sobriety Most people understand this They also like variety But they say you are bad Or perhaps you are mad Or at least you should stay undercover Your mind must be bare If you would dare To think you can love more than one lover Each one of the four seasons Leaves me feeling good Sitting in the shade in the summer In the winter chopping wood Sometimes I love cloudy days But I also dig the sun But I don't think I'm crazy For having so much fun But they say you are bad Or perhaps you are mad Or at least you should stay undercover Your mind must be bare If you would dare To think you can love more than one lover
I love this song so much omg look at the freaking lyrics (in English). This is such a polyam bop my dudes.
