For this month, our optional prompt is ☀️Desert 🏜️

Desert could be a location, for adventure, on a quest, of exile or a home, and they aren't just sandy terrain, they can be tundra or polar deserts too. This could be someone stranded on a desert island or talking about it theoretically, what would they do to survive on one or what (or who?) to take with them like on Desert Island Discs. Desert could also be about being deserted by someone whether briefly or permanently, or deserting from a role, like in a war.

As per usual, you’re welcome to create for any of our previous prompts as well!

We’ll be tracking #PolyamShippingDay, and keeping an eye out for any @polyamships mentions too. We will reblog any polyam-positive fanworks featuring polyamorous ships of any configuration/type from any fandom. Polyam Shipping Day: 2026

June 14: Hand Holding

Summary: With incorrect mission Intel they find themselves pinned down by Hydra, and then pursued by them. All that stands in their way to the Quinjet is an old wooden bridge and a Hydra agent with an RPG

Warnings: canon typical violence, slight angst, near death experience, happy ending

Natasha secures her holsters to her thighs, Bucky adds more ammo to his belt and you slide your knife into it's sheath as the Quinjet takes off. The mission was routine, typical Hydra cell needing taken out, but the three of you were going together anyway. All three of you going was normal, not that you didn't trust each other to be able to handle things solo or with other team members but you all would prefer to have each other's backs, and Fury wasn't about to argue that with any of you.

The mission was routine, until it wasn't. The base had much more personnel and weaponry than intel suggested, and that quickly led into trouble when you could no longer rely on stealth to see the mission through

"How much more ammo do you have?" Bucky asks as he reloads his rifle

Natasha fires a few shots with her signature pistols before taking cover again, "I've got a few magazines left, which isn't enough"

"I'm down to two magazines" you reply

"And I've got three" Bucky admits

"Whatever we're doing, we better do it fast then" Nat says stoically

You and Bucky nod in agreement and he takes the opportunity to pop up over the barricade and open fire while the enemy is focused on reloading. A few of the Hydra agents get hit and either stumble for cover or fall to the ground dead.

This continues a few more minutes, with each of the three of you taking turns firing, taking out or injuring a few Hydra agents each time. Eventually there's another lull and this time you know you can't afford to stay in position

"Now!" Nat whisper shouts before bolting out of cover and down a nearby hallway

You and Bucky follow directly behind her, but you can hear the Hydra members scrambling to catch up

"What now?" You pant, hoping your girlfriend had some type of plan formed before she made her move

"There's an exit up ahead. We're taking it"

Just as it seems the Hydra agents are beginning to gain on you Natasha takes a harsh left and bursts out of a side entrance that was likely never used based in the screech of the hinges. The three of you continue to run, heading straight for the forest that hours ago you had snuck through

Twigs snap and branches break as the three of you abandon stealth this time and run through the undergrowth. The Hydra agents behind you shout something and then you hear the roar of a truck engine. You know you can't outrun vehicles, however it is possible to out maneuver them. And when Bucky pushes to the front of the group and pivots, you know he's thinking the same thing

"The bridge" he tells Nat, "its not far and it can't hold that truck"

"I don't even know if it will hold us" she breathes out as she remembers the old wood and rope structure they'd spotted earlier

Despite her hesitation you all know there isn't really much of a choice and keep heading in the new direction, as the truck plows through the undergrowth now too. Finally the three of you come across the old rickety structure and skid to a halt

"I'll go first" Bucky states as he puts his one foot on the wood. It creaks slightly but doesn't give out, prompting him to continue, "Come on, it's stable"

You and Natasha follow after him, each of you taking a slow and steady pace as to not stress the aged wood or rope. But that only lasts for a few minutes, until the truck gets closer to your location. Close enough that they start to open fire at you once more

"Move!" Bucky shouts as he starts to run

The two of you follow after, but with the super soldier serum in his veins he's able to gain quite the head start, leaving you and Natasha to catch up without even meaning to. As soon as he reaches solid ground he turns around, pulls out his weapon and starts to return fire, attempting to protect you and Natasha

Suddenly a very distinct whoosh cuts through the air followed by the roar of a rocket. Natasha knows what it is immediately and her hand finds the small of your back to urge you forward faster, but there's no outrunning an RPG. It hits the bridge some distance behind you both, sending a blast of fire and splintered wood up into the air. For a single moment a bit of the rope holds, but the heat of the flames coupled with the weight of the two of you quickly causes it to fray

Just as it gives way, you and Natasha jump with all your strength, arms already reaching out to grab something, anything, to keep you both from falling down into the cavern below. Your boyfriends eyes widen in fear as he watches it all unfold and he quickly drops his gun and reaches out both his arms to you

By some miracle Natasha manages to jump far enough that she can grab a hold of his forearm. You however don't make it quite as far, but its close enough that his hand can clamp down around your wrist. Despite catching you both, gravity makes sure the two of you continue to fall, taking him with you. His chest hits the edge of the cliff, causing the air to leave his lungs but his grip doesn't falter on either of you. Your feet and Natasha's scrabble at the cliff side and both of your free hands grab at Buckys arm to ensure neither of you fall

"I've got you" Bucky grits out as his hold on both of you tightens

Gunshots ring out from the opposite cliff and they ping against the rocks around you. Apparently Hydra wasn't content with your current situation and decided it wasn't precarious enough

"Shit" Nat mutters, clearly anxious

You glance around, looking for something stable to grab onto but find nothing but the crumbling cliff side. And you realize then that Bucky's current position won't allow him to lift either of you. If he was standing it would be no issue, but laying down he now has no leverage and no way to sit up to start to gain any. A pit of dread forms in your stomach as you realize that unless he lets go of one of you, he won't be able to lift anyone

"You have to let go" you mutter without fully realizing you'd said it

Natasha's gazebo turns to you with brows furrowed, "What?"

"Tasha, he cant lift us in this position" you explain and when her expression shifts you know she realizes what you mean

"No" she comments, shaking her head, "We'll figure something out"

"She's right" Bucky states, his gaze desperate, "We always find a way"

More bullets ping around you, closer this time and you look into Bucky's eyes, "Let me go"

"James" Natasha says sternly, a warning and a plea all in one.

"I'm not letting them go, Natalia" he assured her just as sternly before taking a deep breath, "think you can get a few shots off at them?"

The redhead smirks, and uses her free hand to unholsteres her weapon. She twists herself in his hold slightly and fires a few rounds. Most hit the cliff by their feet but a few do manage to hit the side of the truck. This spooks them enough that they back off a bit, giving you all some breathing room

"Okay, here's what we're going to do. Tasha, you're going to do that again then holster the gun. Y/n you're going to take her free hand and hold on tight, when you're sure you've got a good grip let go of my hand. Then I'll be able to pull you both up"

Natasha immediately opens fire again, this time hitting the vehicle every time, ensuring the Hydra agents stay down. She quickly holsters her gun then reaches out to you, she grabs a hold of your arm tightly and you grab hers in return. You take a deep breath and let go of Bucky. The slight fall makes your heart plummet, but the strength in your girlfriend's hold calm you

"I've got you dorogoy(sweetheart)" she grits out, "I've got you"

Bucky quickly uses his now free hand to push himself up off his chest then he grabs Nats arm with both hands and he starts to pull you both up. But as soon as Natasha's boots hit the solid edge of the cliff side she feels your grip on her start to weaken.

"Tasha!" you yelp as you frantically grab at her while your feet desperately try to find traction on the cliff side

She immediately turns around and grabs a hold of you with her now free hand, "Don't you dare let go! I've still got you!"

Bucky quickly reaches back over and grabs your other hand, "We've both got you"

They haul you up onto solid ground and you practically collapse against them. But there's no time for relief, because the Hydra soldiers start to open fire again. Bucky grabs his rifle and opens fire, taking out a few of them

"Head for the Quinjet!"

You and Nat take off down the trail and Bucky covers you both before he follows. After a few minutes the jet is finally in sight and the tension eases in all three of you. Once you enter Natasha heads straight for the controls, and she gets it up into the air. Eventually, when far enough away from the Hydra base she sets it to autopilot and joins you and Bucky in the back, where he is of course fretting over you

"I'm fine James, really" you assure him

"You're not okay, you're crazy" Nat says as she steps closer and cups your face, "What were you thinking, asking us to let you go?"

"I just, didn't see any other options at that moment and I panicked. I didn't want either of you to get hurt, or worse"

Bucky leans forward and grabs your hand, "I think I speak for both of us when I say that we'd risk any injury for you Y/n"

"He's right, even injured we would have never let you go. We will never let you go"

A warmth blossoms in your chest and you smile at them, "I love you both"

"We love you too" Bucky says

Natasha finishes, "So very much dorogoy(sweetheart)"

Summary:

To be fair, things had started out normal. Or at least, normal for them. They went to Ikea together because they all felt entitled to have a say on the furniture Derek would buy for the new house. Derek supposed it was fair, they already spent an awful amount of time at Derek's place and he was sure that once their lease was up, Stiles would take up Derek on his invitation to live together. Of course, it was very likely that by the end of the year, Kira will have moved into his place indefinitely, Isaac will have decided that Derek's house was way better than Scott's apartment, and Lydia will have moved enough of her closet to be able to say she lived there as well. [Or, the pack goes furniture shopping for Derek's new house at Ikea. Enter a freak snowstorm. Loosely based on this article.]

With the recent collab that came out that gave some of the character cute spring outifts, it was perfect!~ (Had to design outfits/steal them from other featured character for Rantaro and Korekiyo, but that's par for the course XD)
