Medical Person: What are your symptoms? Disabled/Chronically Ill Person: This is a trap.
Cons of developing a sunlight allergy:
It’s the freaking sun
chronically low vitamin d
always having to wear long sleeve shirts or risk coming out in hives
my freckles are fading :(((
Pros of developing a sunlight allergy:
Big Hat Energy
dramatic goth sleeves
dramatic goth parasol
effectively stopped ageing from UV exposure at the age of 32, forevermore cementing the rumors that I am in fact, a vampire.
This is not a psoriasis flare.
This is because I’m allergic to the f***ing sun, wore a t-shirt today and didn’t put sunscreen on or wear a car hoodie because “I’m just going to Nana’s house and maybe ulta, I won’t be in the car long”
The technical term is Polymorphous light eruption, and it’s basically caused by the fact that I live in New England so every year my body forgets what sunlight is, and around now, when it’s getting stronger, decides that it’s a bad thing and triggers an allergic reaction to it.
It’ll get better as the spring progresses, but I also burn super easy so I rarely go out with out sun screen. I had it on my face and chest today, which is why my chest isn’t itchy, but I always have spf on my face and chest.
Just to prove it’s not a flare (my arms, face, chest, back, and left leg are nearly 100% clear and my right leg only has a few spots that are stubborn) here is my right arm, that didn’t get as much sun
(Yes I have boxes to unpack still no judgment) (also yes, I am wearing Halloween pjs in April)
Some dry patches but nothing like the left.
I’ve put topical steroids on the arm and taken like a 1/4 of a hydroxyzine so I don’t claw myself apart while I sleep but I’m still annoyed.
Any tips or lotions to get rid of a pmle rash? Pls. I'm itchy and burny
DISABLED PERSON: It is unsafe for me to do this thing.
ABLED PERSON: Do it anyway. It will be fine.
It is never fine. Trust disabled people. We know our bodies better than you do.
Yay...sunlight allergy...insert vampire joke here.
Being allergic to the sun sucks
Silly me thinking I could sit in the shade for an hour without coating myself in SPF100.
At least Benedryl and topical steroids kept it from getting too bad.
And my dog is on my lap, one cat is on my chest and the other is by feet and that makes me feel 1000x better. (And sooon I’ll have another kitty to snuggle. Saturday morning is hopefully catch day).
