Creiddylad
Goddess of Flowers, Beauty, Love. Queen of Annwn. Lover of Gwyn ap Nudd.
Yesterday, I was cleaning the altar spaces (by the way, if you don’t usually have motivation to clean, put an altar there...)
Aphrodite said, “light my candle. Read my Hymn.” The one I found was the Homeric Hymn. I had done the same for Artemis and Athena.
I was like OKAY! Until I saw just how much longer Aphrodite’s Homeric Hymn was. But I did read it.
She said, “Honoring me is not without its challenges, dear.” and “Through me, you will know Them.”
I only realized that there is a diff between the Orphic Hymns and the Homeric. Oops.
Well, they’re getting both read to their spaces and also a recitation of their Epithets. 🥺
When you do a relationship spread for your relationship with a goddess and the card that represents their role in the relationship looks fairly, if not eerily, on point with their associations and lore...
Makes me wonder if I should buy the physical deck.
The deck is called Arcana Iris Sacra from Labyrinthos and the spread is as follows, if you’re not familiar:
1. You: What is your role in the relationship? How do you perceive yourself, and how does it affect your partnership?
2. Dynamics: How would you describe the relationship? What are the characteristics?
3. Partner: What is their role in the relationship? How do your perceive them? How does that affect the relationship?
So...
Can any polytheists spare thoughts on this? Especially those who may work with Aphrodite and/or Persephone.
I started working with/worshiping Aphrodite last few days which has been really great so far. I’ve never worked with a deity that can in an instant make me feel so calm, smooth out the raw edges of anxiety or anger. It’s something I’m still working on, as well as fostering unconditional love and love in general...
But? I have a tendency to start relationships with deities and then a week later someone else pops up.
This is starting to happen again and I do not like it.
Aphrodite represents everything I need to work on and develop while also feeling like I can look/move forward again, seeing the beauty in all things: fixing the foundation of my emotional health seems like the best thing for me. I want to dive into this and be serious.
But for the last couple days I’ve been tripping on her name? My brain keeps wanting to call her Persephone. It was as if Persephone (of whom I’ve only cursorily been interested in) was saying “once you’re done with this, come look me up.” I literally did it again while looking for an Aphrodite gif for this post! Searched for Persephone.
I had to draw a hard line in the sand today - which is a big step for me I think? Basically, I’m tired of jumping around doing a little work here and there.
Ritual baths. Healing, purification, and welcoming back the sun. First time invoking Sulis, as well. ☀️ 🌊
