Makaio @ Silvan: "It's true that Water-types do best near water," he said, leaning slightly to be more at level with Silvan. "But you'd be surprised how hardy most of us are. ... You know, you could also be a Water-type, if you wanted. You can't go wrong with Vaporeon, those guys are tough. But uh," he raised an eyebrow, "So, you're hunting all these gems. Your kind also evolve from exposure to stones. Is there a connection there at all?"
Silvan stared suspiciously at Makaio for a moment as they tried to recognise what Pokemon he was. He felt like a legendary, but it was rather hard to place which one he was.
Only that he, too, was a water type.
They treated the Legendary as he was, however, and bowed their head lightly. It was hard to show the correct respect without knowing what he was.
They huffed, though, a little disappointment in their expression as they looked away, their ears lower than before, if only for a moment.
“Well, Vaporeon is out of the question now,” they replied after looking back at Makaio, and picked up their bag to put on their back as they got ready to move on to the next location. Silvan gestured for Makaio to follow as they exited the cave, having put everything away.
“But as for the rest, it’s not uncommon for one of my kind to seek out multiple gems to see which evolution path would suit them best,” they thought of Dante, one of their many brothers, who was on his own quest.
“My brother Dante really likes the idea of becoming a Flareon, but he’s not impartial to Azureon, either. So he’s looking for both gems. I haven’t heard from him in a while though, so maybe he’s already found them? Who knows.”
“I’m the only one of my clan to hunt all the gems, though,” Silvan looked proud of themself, “I want as many choices as possible. I will try them all, one way or another. There’s no real connection to the Gems or Stones. We can use any of them to evolve as long as it’s put into a crown crafted by a professional to channel the element. Then, we complete a trial to prove our worth of that evolution before we evolve. It’s different for each evolution.”
Silvan shivered a little as they paused walking.
“... Some trials, though… are cruel.”
It takes a while for the flustered Ribombee to recompose themselves, but eventually some coherent words leave their mouth behind intermittent shivers.
"I-I-I always come here to nap..! The sun hits the beach perfectly and there's n-never a peep but the ocean waves, so its always safe and quiet unlike the meadow..."
The Ribombee pauses for a second before acknowledging his two visitors with a nervous smile.
"well, um, it usually is..!"
