Poopdeck : Disney’s Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack Cancelled Copy
Animation Ripoffs on Animation are not common however even the biggest animation companies of the world commit that, we saw that last year with Nickelodeon’s Made By Maddie with the similarities or should i say copy of the Sony Pictures Animation short Hair Love.
Disney is no stranger to that since it has been accused of copies and ripoffs since they where born with the ongoing feud with Kimba The White Lion and The Lion King and some even weirder like a Inside Out lawsuit and another with Atlantis The Lost Empire.
But what happens when it’s real and actually happen on their TV Animation division for their owned TV networks?
Poopdeck : A pitched animated series which it’s creator is still unknow was pitched and approved as a pilot in Late 2007-Early 2008, during the finalization of the pilot who was ready for testing focus group, Thurop Van Oarman’s The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack was released on Cartoon Network making Disney‘s legal deparment order Disney ABC Networks to pass the pilot of Poopdeck immediately over the similarities of Flapjack.
It’s unknow which the plot of this series was but we know the names of the main characters are: Oldie (Pirate) and Donnie ( Nerd Kid)
The show seemed to be aimed for Disney Channel
Visual development by Miles Thompson ( Miles Thompson only did the visual development art for the pilot, it's unknow which person created Poopdeck)
However many people from the industry let know Thurop Van Orman the existence of Poopdeck in response Flapjack’s episode Panfake" was a direct reply to “Poopdeck” with Larry making bootleg puppets of Bubbie, Flapjack & Captain K'nuckles to make a puppet show about them.
Funny thing in 2016, Thurop Van Orman announced that he was working on Disney for a pilot of a potential Disney XD Series before going to Direct Angry Birds 2
