”Adora! The Brightmoon cleaning staff have now made an official refusal to ever clean your bedding!” Glimmer exclaimed in exasperation, “This is getting ridiculous!”
Adora’s head tilted in pure confusion, “Why? It’s not that dirty.”
”Why? The last time the sheets were changed, someone nearly lost a finger,” Glimmer lectured, “I love weapons as much as the next person, but this is getting ridiculous. They have to go.”
Adora stared in abject horror as Glimmer approached the bed, “No! I need them.”
Cautiously, Glimmer moved the pillow and extracted the blade beneath it. She then shook the pillow gingerly over the mattress and two more fell out. She added all three to a discard pile.
”Where else?” Glimmer asked.
Adora looked to the ceiling, and her voice sounded strange even to her as she spoke, “That was all of them.”
Glimmer gave her a disbelieving look and Adora soon caved under her gaze.
”I may have strapped some to the mattress. Around the sides so I can just pull up the bedspread and grab them in an emergency,” Adora confessed sounding forlorn.
Glimmer removed the cover to see the mattress had been hogtied, with various knives and other weapons fitted beneath the cords. There was even a hatchet!
”Is that all of it?” Glimmer asked, now with a sizeable pile.
Adora made one last attempt to save her hoard, but her voice betrayed her as she said, “Yes.”
“Adora!”
”Under the mattress too. Then that really is all of them,” Adora admitted sadly and how she justified needing them there, Glimmer would never know.
