headcanon that some of the older nations have adopted new human names to suit their language over time. china, for example, changed his surname with each dynasty, and the scandinavians changed their first names after christianity spread in their countries. occasionally, such nations will accidentally refer to eachother with their previous names, much to the confusion of the personifications.

what i don't understand about tumblr is why japanese is in the list of languages but not chinese when that's the most spoken language in the world.
