WIP Wednesday
I've been bouncing around on wips recently, but when I saw it's been almost one year to the date that I shared something from the fem!Loki wip, I figured it would be fitting to share that. In the first snippet, Loki changed forms to go to the grocery store with Don, but they didn’t go as unseen as he had hoped. (ETA: Mary is Don's ex-wife.)
Thank you @elodiah and @distracteddream for the tags! <3
“Don, what is going on? The boys are saying the president has been visiting you. Is that true?” “Well, yes—” “And now I hear from Deborah that you’re dating someone?” “That—” Don sighed and pinched the crooked bridge of his nose. “The woman Deborah saw was…the president’s sister.” Not his best lie but he forged on. “She’s from Europe and wanted to see a quaint American grocery store.” That sounded like something Loki would say. And speaking of, in the middle of that sentence, the cell phone was pulled out of his hand and then Mary’s voice was coming out of the speaker as Loki set it beside the stove. “The president’s sister was in town and you were the one giving her a tour?” Her tone emphasized how unbelievable that was. “From what Deborah said, you weren’t giving a tour.” Good ol’ Deborah. Loki crossed his arms as he leaned against the counter, unabashedly listening in. Don thought about reaching over to turn off speakerphone, but that was a fight he wouldn’t win. And dinner would burn in the meantime. Before Don could figure out what to say, Mary went on. “That still doesn’t explain why the president”—again with that disbelieving emphasis—“is showing up at your house. Are you in some kind of trouble?” There really wasn’t any lie he could give that would make the whole situation make sense so he went with the truth. It wasn’t like he could ask the boys to lie to their mother about Loki’s continued presence. “We’re…dating,” Don said. The silence stretched out so long, he thought the call might have dropped. “The president?” Incredulity made Mary’s voice go up two octaves. Don covered his face with one hand so he wouldn’t see Loki’s expression. “Well, he won’t be for much longer,” he mumbled but Mary was still making strange, almost-choking noises.

So I've been thinking.
In SAINW, Don gets yeeted into the future, things go very poorly, then a yeeted Don shows back up 30 years later, very confused and very much still a teen. This timeline is then averted when Leo manages to yoink Don 30 years back to where he came from in the timeline.
In Fast Foward, from my recollection, there are multiple thing stating that yes, the turtles made it back to their own time to live out the rest of their lives.
This tells me that no matter what happened in Fast Forward, the turtles (and Splinter) were all going to make it back to the past and everything would eventually be ok.
This also tell me that Don's safety in the SAINW timeline was never guaranteed. That there was every chance Don could've died, resulting in his 30 year disappearance from the timeline and the SAINW timeline become THE timeline, not just an alternate one.
So, something to think about
I realized that Don probably has no safe place to go to during The Drama. Poor kid is innocent, but he's surrounded by his family having shouting matches, attacking each other, etc. I could see Don freaking out the moment Mr. Pteranodon and Tiny raise their voices at home after she attacks Gilbert. That's Don's best bud after all!
He would have tried to go to Lily, but Lorraine decided to be a terrible person and shut him out.
The question of where Don could possibly go to feel safe and escape man! Like, he just decides to go to the Family Lodge in Troodon Town by himself because he hates what he's surrounded by.
Don having enough could be another great wake up call for Gilbert, Tiny, and Shiny.
(Also, I could see Tabitha and Trevor checking in on Don frequently while he lives by himself in the Lodge. He was scared to go to Tabitha and Trevor because of the situation with Gilbert 😭)
Steven Universe Reference but Raph is silly.
Raph will do anything to make his little bro happy, so if it takes shoving some delicious donuts in their face…then so be it.
“Anyways! Raph where did we get donuts in the apocalypse??”
“Hmm”
Donnie: “WHO THE HECK STOLE MY ‘LAST TWO DONUTS ON THE PLANET’ STASH”
“Oh yeah!”

:( what happened to donaidhs wings..
someone cut em clean off
a couple of years into working for ludovic, a rival group snatched donaidh to use as a bargaining chip to try and get money from ludo.
they threatened Harm 2 donaidh if ludo didnt give in to their demands but ludo..didnt. bc hes an asshole, and he didnt think theyd have the guts to pull through on their threats of cutting off one of his staffs limbs so he kind of just...didnt go get him. and waited 2 see what happened
but, they did go forward with it. so donaidh got no wings. rook probably went and got him bc ludo doesnt do the dirty work himself, and took him to get patched up.
but donnies got nowhere to go so hes still working for ludo-he’s just trying not to remember what happened. poor guy
